The telly boys won a National Television Award earlier tonight for the most popular factual TV show. Jeremy, Richard and James couldn’t be there – cos they were down at the Top Gear test track filming the first episode of the new series – so they sent an emissary instead. The Stig.
Stig handed over a note as he collected the award, the third year in a row that they’ve won it, saying that the award needed to be placed in his left hand as the right one is magnetic. And that he wasn’t to be sat next to the cast of Coronation Street, as he’s decided all northerners are edible.
He then stood there as the next section began, cos the Stig doesn’t know what to do at award ceremonies.
We’ll bring you a proper story with all the details tomorrow – and maybe even some YouTube footage – but for now we’ve got a hangover to collect.
(If anyone’s uploaded some good YouTube of it, please let us know. Thanks.)

I found the video with some basic google searching. Normally I would link it here but it seems that the BBC has made some copyright claims against users that have hosted it on YouTube, thus we must find it ourselves. Curious how the BBC would think that it owns a short clip of the National Television Awards simply because one of their actors is in it. All the same the clip is rather humorous and worth the search.
