Tom Jones strode out onto the track yesterday, and despite charming the birds from the trees, he confessed to not having changed gear in a car for 40 years.
40 years.
Now that is unusual. The last time we had a guest on who struggled to change gear using ’stick’ we dropped two gearboxes in our reasonably priced car.
The Stig was on hand, though, with some sound advice to help the Welsh warbler avoid driving over the green green grass of home. Sorry, that was awful.
Anyway, if you want to know how the cog-grinding lap went, I’m afraid The Mole’s been gagged. Sunday at 9pm is your best bet. And you can keep your hat on.

Mr Jones was a bit naughty actually. He got the filming re-arranged so he was recorded first as he ‘had to dash off to do the Lottery’. He had gone by 16:15 but didn’t do the Lottery until 22:45!!
