With the rest of the Top Gear office flat-out on the new series, The Mole slipped out unnoticed yesterday for a sneaky look at a new Top Gear exhibition at the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu.
It’s been rather grandly named ‘World of Top Gear’ – The Mole, for the record, prefers ‘Festival of Tat’ – and we’ve taken over part of the museum to show off cars Jeremy and the boys have built for our telly programme over the years.
To be honest, it’s really rather good – your only chance to get up close to the ambitious but rubbish inventions Jeremy, Richard and James have either sunk, crashed or exploded.
The display doesn’t officially open until June 19, but from our snooping around we can tell you it’s pretty much up
and running already, even as the finishing touches are being applied (you know the sort of thing, bolting those stretch limos back together and clearing charred remains of caravans).

The museum chaps plan to rotate the cars on display to cram everything in, so you can expect to see the likes of TG police cars, amphibious cars, stretch limos, double deckers and so on.
Our telly boys have also filmed a special video presentation from behind the scenes at TG HQ that you won’t see anywhere else. And The Mole tripped over a load of Top Gear merchandise headed for the Beaulieu gift shop, which might give you an idea or two for Fathers’ Day.
So, fancy it? If so, check out the Beaulieu website for more info on the museum. To be honest, we’re quite chuffed – it’s better than leaving our old tat to rust down at the telly studio, and if the Beaulieu chaps can put up with us, we’ll be there for a while. At least until a better exhibit comes along, anyway.
Oh, and if you are going to try to bust your way in before the official opening, steer clear on June 9 – the doors will be locked for some serious display fettling.
Top Gear with its own exhibition in a proper grown-up museum… what next?

COOL first 1
cool display
iwant to go hey 1st 3

Hello any one
Wooo, sounds good, eh?
you bet Chaucer
First, the museum. Next, the hall of fame.
Well, you can tell from the first picture that the cool wall will sadly not be featuring in the new series…
What a fantastic show of greatness! Wonderfull in every way!
i want to go!
cool and love any one
Shameless plagiarism of the Top Gear name! You should be ashamed of yourselves! Where did you say you could get tickets?
can you make a video abaut bmw for less than 2000,00 paunds and who has bought the best deal an series of challenges gowing on!!!!!
will they have over 18’s only hours ?? plz.. i hate kids !!!!
wow that looks AMAZING!!
Any chance of this touring the country at all, if it’s not going to be a permanent fixture at Beaulie?
Either that or James, Richard and Jezza in Madam Tussauds?
Great! Seems really cool!
i wish hammond could have have a hair cut
i don’t need 1 jeremy =P

Yeah Amazing
this will be amazing. I hope it goes on tour internationally, that would be nice. I think they should put hamster on stilts to make him normal size. that would be funny. who agrees?
could be a fine place for storing the Lotus-Lada
And what you do is invite every user on this website to a free museum warming party.
Pleeeeeeeeeease.
I Wish I Can Go To Top Gear Studio
So I Can See Anything
Euh, just out of ‘curiosity’, and in the name of scientific enquiry, is ‘anything’ on sale?
I’m merely asking because, as you know, there could be buyers:)
Like, the cop cars for example? Or, euh, May’s Salfa Romeab Stretch Limo?
cool
I want to see the Rocket Robin =P, or at least what’s left of it…
HA SHAME I have already seen all these cars and touched them and if you dont read the comments then you wouldn’t have relised I have already said about this on a previous blog ages ago in the easter half term
Can i just say…
I KNOW YOU SEEN THEM HA HA!!!!!
I’ve got to go to this it looks just amazing! And i’llget some pics too and we’ll compare yeah?!!! xx
Really want to see those cars!
I’m there!
Apparently they’re gunna build houses on Dunsfold Aerodrome (TG Test track)!
Hey Lisa-loo loves Rich yeah great idea we will compare photos im going soon anyway
One more reason to go to Beaulieu! I must make the pilgrimage…
What next you say Mole? A full-blown TopGear Museum of course! I understand the TG track will be on Gran Turismo 5 – it’d be cool if you won the TG Avantime or the Britcar BMW 318d or something for breaking a record/winning a race.
Reading through these comments looking for intelligent/funny ones is like wading through sewage to find gold. It’s my main gripe with Transmission Blogs.
i have nothing 2 say
Had a sneek preview of this the other week, they were after people to go around have a look the answer a few questions about it so they could make sure it was ok. It was very good especially the video
I am really surprised that this has taken so long to be realised.
As Top Gear have so many products avalible, as she sips tea from her Top Gear Stig mug , I am not surprised that at Dunsfold they don’t have a display were you pay £20 to see all that and Stig’s pen were he lives chuck him some meat a feeding time.
Top Gear Lunch box , Top Gear Easter eggs , books magazines , Stig bubble bath, t-shirts, umberellas , key rings etc . Then they take the pish out of ferrari, audi , bmw for the cheap tat they flog.
It costs a bloody fortune paying over all the cash to keep my son happy I hope that Jeremy and co’s pension pot is growing thanks to us lot.
PS. Any one else have strange dreams about the Stig and making little stiglets or is it just Top Gear excitement and the heat?
Can’t wait to go!
so does that mean that with a museum and everything, will Top Gear be on the schools curriculum…like as a lesson…
Something i have to check out for myself.
Will you be able to buy the new TopGear gifts and gadgets that are being launched this year at the exhibition? Or am I just advertising the fact they’re available? Oh, well, back to work.
how long are the cars at beaulieu ??does anyone know ,thanks can you email me at amoaning@hotmail.co.uk thank u .
i work there
i am the stig
to wow yes u will
to amanda very very long
bye bye
At press opening today, amazing. Shame the guys weren’t there but I after 9 years of waiting for blooming tickets to see TG filmed I got to see the Stig (in the flesh). Go see display, it’s fab.
Cars will be there at least 5 years.
Can’t wait to one day get tickets to show….x
it awsome, i have been this weekend, they have the brit car bmw, ice hockey suzuki, the mini they drove down a ski jump and the stig,
in the challenges bit they have the limos, double decker cars, amphi cars james BL princess JC’S s-class cottage the aventine, BRILLIANT!
random comment that is completely pointless and probably a little bit annoying:
…hi!
also…if the *cough* 5th gear *cough* team arrive there, watch them, they might try to sabotage it like they tried with the studio!
ive just come back from beauieu and the world of top gear was absolutely fantastic.the only downside was that the red toyota hilux wasn’t there on display
