Filming’s wrapped for another week down at the Top Gear studio and it looks like yet more sensible consumer advice from Jeremy, Richard and James.
In this Sunday’s show the boys will attempt to find three sensibly priced small cars that won’t make you miserable – a process that involves haranguing bankers, harnessing large dogs, and almost getting arrested. Like we said, sensible stuff.
Plus, James meets American stunt driving legend Ken Block and Jeremy tests the mildly insane Mercedes SL Black on the track.
This week’s star in our reasonably priced car is BBC One funnyman Michael McIntyre.
The Mole’s on his way back from the studio almost as I type, so check back tomorrow for behind the scenes snaps – namely a gallery from the telly show rehearsals and filming – plus a few production office stories in usual secret-spilling blog format.

Living just up the road from Dunsfold, I can attest that the weather here in Surrey was HOT HOT HOT today, my car said 34 on the dashboard today, and I bet you felt every degree of it at Dunsfold, it’s so open with hardly any shelter,
its super veloce and hammond said sport veloce!!

It was pretty hot in the studio but the TG team looked after us all; the aircon was blasting when not filming and plenty of water. The McIntyre interview was funny, as was his lap; hopefully they won’t cut too much out (watch out for the last corner!). The Ken Block feature was amazing. Clarkson was as on-form as ever.

Super Veloce or Sport Veloce. In the name of the Good Lord, let’s write another testament, the Top Gear edition, and just accept it. Also, are we sure Hammond said Veloce with an “h” or without an “h” in his pronounciation – can we get a ruling on that? Should the S and the V be capitalized or not? I think Hammond said it with an upper case S and V. Should followers of the TG testament cry about the meaning of LP (something about lengthwise placement of the engine block, but in Italianese)?

I’d like to see how the SL Black will perform too, particularly for its Power Lap. A bit curious how high up it may go though cos when they tested the Brabus S BiTurbo Roadster two years ago, it didn’t do as well as it should have. Still, that was a while ago; the Black should be quicker, if not one of the quickest.

I would love to go and see them one day. I read that you get picked out of a list when you want to go, too bad I live abroad. It would be pretty difficult to get traintickets if you don’t know in advance when you can possibly go. But I keep me fingers crossed that I’ll be able to see them on TG Live one day, that would be cooooool too

Ithink top Gear is absolutly amazing, (as is Richard Hammond)It ah brought tears of laughter every show and I would like to make the suggestion of a feature length episode of top gear, a movie. I am not the onlyu person who tjinks this is a good idea and I am sure that it would bring a huge audience and recive great reviews.
