There was a moment during filming in the studio yesterday where Jeremy asked everyone in the audience whether they’d seen Ken Block’s Gymkhana on YouTube. There were a few blank faces.
So, given James spent a few hours powersliding around an airport with him for this week’s show, we thought we’d give those who don’t know Ken Block a bit of homework before Sunday night.
All you have to do is watch these two videos, then imagine what stunts like that will look like with Top Gear’s famed cinematic skills and James’ wide-eyed wincing and buttock-clenching. It’s spectacular.
I’m looking forward to seeing James in the passenger seat with Ken Block, how many changes of underwear did he go through?!

James definately has balls of titanium. In this season’s preview and on the photo in the article above he doesn’t seem to wince even the slightest even though there’s a car powersliding right around him. That and the sip he took of Jeremy’s V8 cocktail, not to mention his journey into near-space… Bravo.
Of course, I also wonder how he behaved being IN the car with Mr. Block.
I’ve been saying all along that Ken Block and Travis Pastrana should be the hosts for American Top Gear, in like 5-10 years when they calm down a bit. I don’t know who they could get for a 3rd host though…..

I can’t believe anyone with enough of an interest in motoring to apply for tickets in the Top Gear audience wouldn’t have seen either of the Gymkhana videos! Shame on them!

OK… doodle dandy has the basic skills required to manipulate a car, but judging by the amount of skid marks on the airfield, he’d been there practising all weekend. I think even Jeremy’s mum could eventually drive like that with Stig’s tuition and a whole day to practice.

Amazing, Ken Block has hidden talent. The Subaru Imprezza isn’t very good car; it’s ugly and hides in the corner of chicane. If Ken can doo that I can’t wait to see what he does tomorrow nite.
