A quick update from the Top Gear studio today, where rehearsals are now well underway and fastest-man-on-Earth Usain Bolt is out on the track in our reasonably priced car.
We’ve had a look at the script and highlights this week include Jeremy being chased by the British Army in some of their deadliest toys, while Richard and James compare the new Porsche Panamera against a small envelope, a 39p stamp and the logistical might of the Royal Mail in a race from one end of the British Isles to the other.
As usual, we’ll have a behind the scenes rehearsal gallery for you in the morning, a few spoiler-free studio shots from the live recording after that and an insightful blog or two from our telly mole before the week’s out.
All that, plus some brand new video outtakes from the series so far – including that great train race, that Lotus Evora lap we binned in favour of the FXX lap back in show one and a few extras from the 17-year-olds films in show two.

I had one of the Porsche Panerama on trial and it has appauling handling and it seems to take years to get to 60 and when it does the noise from the engine is almost unbearable. So come on the letter.
doesnt sound like a great episode. need more supercars!!! i dont like that topgear is becoming a comedy instead of a car show!! they should have a supercar showdown every episode.

I think it would be interesting if, instead of Usain Bolt driving the Chevrolet Lacetti, he could race a Peugeot 1007 in a 100m drag race; Usain running, and the Pug being driven by The Stig

You did it again!!. All my family (wife 36,daughters of 8 and 5 years old, and me 50) look de show together and enjoy it a lot. Is the perfect balance of comedy and car show. The production, the boys and Stig make de big difference. That’s great. Thanks very much indeed from Argentina.

Surely with Bolt on they won’t do the usual chit chat and a lap round the track. He’s quite an upbeat laughable guy so they might have thought of something decent to do.
I think Top Gear is under huge pressure to always be funny because when they get it right everyone from all ages love it. But I’ve been a fan of it and Clarkson since I can remember and it does look upsetting sometimes when they have to add sheer fakery and silly challenges just to keep the new wave of Top Gear fans interested.
It’s a car show, with three brilliant presenters and they just so happen to be funny. I still want it to be around cars though.

I’ve been watching new Top Gear from day one, back when the bandwagon jumpers like yourself weren’t even aware of this fantastic show. Top Gear in it’s current form has passed it’s best, but it is possible to go back a few seasons when the balance of car reviews, cocking about and celeb interviews were at a more natural balance
Apparently The Stig is being placed in the audience every week without his helmet. There’s meant to be some subtle indications every week and they’re just going to wait for someone to write in and say “I KNOW WHO THE STIG IS”. I was told this by a mate of mine who’s in the lighting crew. He’s not sure he’s meant to say though, so I’m not sure I’m meant to post it here either LOL.

It would be ridiculous for Usain to jeapordize his career as a runner with any accident running in a stunt that isn’t paying his usual appearance fee of $1,000,000. Though the idea of a 100 m drag race between him and a car would turn my head. Now what I need is a 4 way race with Bolt, Michael Phelps (50m head start)a car and a boat. There you go Top Gear work that one out.

I really enjoyed last weeks one where Jermey couldn’t get over the hill.Top gear is one of the best factual show ( even though they haven’t put a fact on the show for 5 years lol!!..) and i hope it will continue for ever . i would really like if the bugatti veryon went on against the ferari ( f1, enzo, 360) or the konieeeeggggseigggg lol!!..

Two ideas for next series:
One: Test (and hopefully prove!) the theory that an F1 car can drive upside down above 150mph. There must be a long enough tunnel you can borrow somewhere. It would be the most amazing video it would take the world by storm.
Two: you simply must do a feature on Stirling Moss and get him to do a lap in the Liana. I don’t care if he’s slow, he’s a legend and it would be great to see him drive against the clock.
An F1 car can’t travel upside down at any speed. Its a total misconception that downforce can be flipped to become upforce running contrary to the very compelling laws of gravity.
The myth came about because its quite reasonable to state that the downforce generated is greater than gravitational force. That doesn’t mean it would be able to defy it.
When will the Corvette ZR1 be on the show?

I am a fan, writing from Brazil. I just wanted to say that it is a shame, if not completely ridiculous, no to be able to watch the videos “because of my current location”. You are on the internet guys, why restrict the videos? Only those living in the UK, where the show can be viewed on the telly, can log on and watch your videos? Don’t you think that’s going against the current? Unfortunately for me, that would be the only way I could have my fix of TG, because there’s no BBC here, except the 24 hour news channel. Shame, really. By the way, I posted this here, because I didn’t know where else I could do it.
