One of the most brutal parts of the weekly process that makes a new Top Gear pop onto your Sunday night TV screen is the honing and re-writing of the script on a Tuesday. Ideas get typed up and then, just as quickly, they get deleted, whether it’s to save time or simply because they were basically a bit rubbish.
For one or both of those reasons several thoughts bit the dust this week, which is why you won’t get to hear Jeremy’s theory on why there are too many roads in Buckinghamshire nor see Richard’s sneaky plan to make sure Clarkson couldn’t muck up the lap board.
He thought better of that one, which was probably wise since it appeared to involve the use of Superglue.
What you WILL see on Sunday’s show is Jeremy and Richard having a ball on the track as they go head-to-head in the Ford Focus RS and Renault Megane R26.R.
You’ll also watch Richard and James taking on the logistical muscle of the Royal Mail as they pit the new Porsche Panamera against a 39p stamp in a race from the Scilly Isles to the Orkneys.
Then there’s Jeremy’s attempt to re-invent once-popular playground game British Bulldogs using a Mitsubishi Evo, a bunch of terrifying British Army vehicles and some live ammunition.
And if all that wasn’t enough, we’ve got Usain Bolt – the world’s fastest man, and possibly one of the world’s coolest too - in the Reasonably Priced Car.
What more do you want? A cat that can do maths? Well you can’t. They just get bored in the middle of a sum and go to sleep.

Good grief really annoying seeing all the bad syntax and spelling mistakes posted…Jezza you have to mention this on one of the shows, it must give you something of a headache trying to work out which language they are trying to use.

Looking forward to Sunday. Can you get some fitties in the background during the news section like last week please? Although I had to rewatch last week’s episode on iPlayer as I had no idea what the news was due to staring at the fitties. Then I watched it a 2nd time on iPlayer to look at the fitties again.
Btw, I just read Clarkson’s review of the AMV12 – is that on this week’s show too? Please tell me it’s on one of the shows this series!?

ps. only yesterday I saw the episode with james, jeremy and richard testing a kia and going camping..it reminded me of why I started watching in the first place…because it made me laugh.. it was never or very rarely about the cars.. the star in the car interviews were always a bit of an x factor,but the cool wall and the exagerated tests were usually really entertaining.. this can a car beat from alpinists to stamps thing though is getting very dull.. The specials were all excellent.. clarkson and co. does… fantastic.. more of that would be a relief.. good luck.. a bored viewer and from avid to dubious fan..
I also raced to Orkney on the same day – for a job interview, then to Elgin – for a gig, then to Northumberland – for a cuppa!

Watching the repeat of episode 2 just,i not only saw the Stig on the photocopier but also a picture i think of Will Young on Jezza’s desk and some tooth whitener on Richard’s!! Sunday’s episode looks brilliant by the way personally i think everything is very well balanced,good mix of daft challenges/races/cocking about /supercars/great films(Richard in Abu Dhabi) etc etc. Well done lads!

Do please cut out the bordering-on-bad-taste bits. The the ‘teenage girls’ in the past episodes on this series. An Jeremy is laying his contrarian, i-want-to-be-controversia l lines a bit too thick lately. I’d like to suggest for the ‘how hard can it be’ – can topgear create the best power-weight-ratio car ever? Like strapping a W-12 from a Phaeton to an Ariel Atom with F1-style wings and having a go on the track. Or for laughs, James can suddenly appear again with shorter hair and his early suits and have a May’s suddenly gone all-butch and has a flavor of the month girl, teasing May the same way Jeremy teases Richard with Oliver – a matchmaking reality show done the ‘ambitious but rubbish’ way.
Oh and by the way, the ‘how hard can it be’ best power to weight ratio car contest can be between the 3 boys against the stig, who will for the first time participate and create the w12 Ariel Atom (or something similar – a Radical with a bi-turbo W12?). comcast.net account, same name.
Top Gear is literally the best show on tv ever. best part this season so far is james quietly pulling up to the parents house than clarkson turning on the sub with the remote, priceless. keep up the good work.

Hey guys !! I am so excited to say that sunday, being in Bruxelles i could watch your show on my hotel’s tv network. The show was quite fun, the only thing i didn’t get it was with this american subaru impreza wrc guy who is making drifts and so .. wasn’t very interesting, so .. until my next trip to Belgium, hope to see you soon on the internet!
