Ready the rotten fruit and rotten eggs: this Sunday’s episode is the last in the current series of Top Gear.
We’re sorry. We really are. Throw your fruit and eggs but don’t aim for the face. Please. Because Show Seven (see, right down with the telly lingo, we are) is lining up to be an absolute cracker.
We’ve snuck down to filming to find out what’s coming up on Sunday’s show, and the answer is… lots of tyre smoke. That’s because our resident muscle car enthusiast Richard Hammond – in a bid to find an interesting alternative to the ubiquitous Germanic sports saloons – has got his hands on a Vauxhall VXR8 Bathurst.
Yes, that’s the eminently sensible Aussie repmobile armed with a 564bhp 6.2-litre V8 and a penchant for getting very sideways. Expensive tyre bills ensue.
Jeremy and James, meanwhile, have been hard at work creating a memorable television advert for Volkswagen. Remember the Golf GTI ad with the squeaky earring? Or the singing dog? Well, it’s probably going to end up being nowhere near as good as those.
There’s a proper A-list petrolhead in our Reasonably Priced Car, too, as Jay Leno – the strong-chinned American chat show host with arguably the finest garage in the world – takes the venerable Lacetti for a spin.
And as if that wasn’t excitement enough, the Cool Wall is back! This time, however, Jeremy and Richard have promised that they won’t fight about the cars at all. Honest. It’s all going to be friendship and teamwork and male bonding and definitely no chainsaws this time.
So that’s Sunday, 8pm on BBC Two for a teary farewell to Series 13. Don’t even think of missing it.

I havwe just watched the Aston V12 Vantage review again for the hundreth time! What a fantastic bit of tv, letting that super, fantastic, brilliant and beautiful car do the talking. Well done to everyone involved and I hope it’s not the last shout for these sort of cars – people have to have a dream!!

The Aston V12 review at the end of episode 7 series 13 was some of the finest television i have watched in recent times regardless of genre. Thought provoking, honest and on the money with awsome productions values that the the 5th gear team will never be able to compete with. Top Gear has provided us over the years with hours of what we love. I have long held a belief that eventually the increasingly overly sensitive politically correct obsessed world we all live in would catch up with them, and i guess that is partly was Jeremy was also implying.
During the difficult times we are in, beautiful, powerful but low mpg and high emmission cars like the Aston are now considered by many to be vulgar and out of touch and the Vantage could well be the end of the line. Like or not Aston and other companies like them need to evolve with their cars and technologies or they will tragically be consigned to the history books, and all too easily. Porsche and BMW have led the way on this front, will smaller volume performance car manufacturers be able to follow suit or go to the wall?

Just wanted to thank the entire crew and staff for yet another excellent season of TG! Every preceding season you seem to outdo yourselves. As much as I appreciate the on-camera cast and staffers, I want to give particular applause to the camera crew, footage editors and sound people for their amazing work — the quality of your production work (particularly Jeremy’s final AM Vantage piece) was AMAZING — even better than many cinematic filmmakers. BRAVO!!!

I am sorry danny….. I agree with Horseface, the show is aimed at the youngsters. The practical jokes and sense of humour is right up my son’s street (he is 11). I hear him howling with laughter everytime with the antics the boys get up to on a trip or expedition. It also gives them sound advice on what car to drive in the future! (I use this programme to promote the reasons of a good education)!!
Keep up the good work Top Gear.

As a Yank In Texas receiving last years shows, I was completely taken aback when Jeremy proclaimed the last episode in the series. I’m very sad to see TG go, it was so refreshingly different from the bland sitcom/reality show fodder we have here in the States. For me, the parting scenes of the Aston Martin Vantage winding through the countryside, combined with Jeremy’s remarks, were haunting poetry. The imagery will forever leave me with a sadness when I think of Top Gear. It’s a strange feeling for me to feel sad when I think of Top Gear. Long live Top Gear.

Howdy just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your post seem to be running off the screen in Internet explorer. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know. The design and style look great though! Hope you get the problem solved soon. Many thanks
