Remember that episode of I’m Alan Partridge in which Norfolk’s favourite light broadcaster makes a ‘humourous intro to a song’ which accidentally suggests that the Queen is dead, something he later realises has ‘been taken a bit too literally by one or two listeners… and a newspaper’.
Something similar seems to have happened after the poignant Aston Martin film that closed the current series of Top Gear.
The Twitterers (or, if you’re David Cameron, the Twatterers) have gone nuts with speculation that Jeremy was not forecasting the end of V12 wonders like the Aston; he was prophesising the demise of Top Gear itself.
So, just to clear up once and for all, Top Gear is NOT DEAD. Unless it went in the night and has yet to be discovered by the maid…
Ha! Not really. See you in November.
PS – we’re not quite finished with series 13 here on TopGear.com. Those outtakes we’ve been promising will finally arrive this week. Be first to see them by signing up to our newsletter…

What do you think?

I saw the coming of the end, when i was in the U.A.E. a month back.
In order to reign in the high death rate, they have resorted to increasingly sophisticated and desperate measures, such as advanced speed cameras, automated cameras to monitor lane violations, electronic speed limiters in taxis…
It was a strange sight to see all cars going in the same speed as the driven by robots.
This seems to be the inevitable future for all cars on all roads.

No please. The Top Gear can´t finish. Here in Portugal it’s the only and the best program in the world. You are the best and the funniest presenters that i ever saw in my life.
Please don’t stop and continue with the GREAT WORK boys.
I hope see you soon

I was genuinely surprised that last night was the last show for this series, the last few have been 7 or 8 episodes, and it was a little worried. When I heard ‘end of series’ it makes me think the show is over but then I quickly remembered that what we call ‘seasons’ in Canada is what you gents call a ‘series’. A inner sigh of relief followed.
I can’t think of another show on Television that can make me laugh as hard as I do, but also has these spectacular introspective moments of television that Top Gear has.
For that and other reason Top Gear is my favorite show on TV here is Canada, and I specifically ordered BBC-Canada to be able to watch it.
I am looking forward to November then for Series 16. Keep up the good work guys(cast & crew)!

by far the funniest show on TV, I was shocked when Jeremy said end of series, but in America we call them seasons (sigh of relief). Jeremy, hamster and captain Slow definitely make the show what it is.

Top Gear is, in my opinion, THE BEST show to ever be on television. I’m American and I won’t ever watch the American version of this show because it’s just not the same without Jeremy, James, and Richard. I love you guys. Please never stop the show. I don’t care if the guys are in their 80′s and still on!!! Long live Top Gear (the original)!!!!

Top Gear will Does not have any show on TV that can match its originality, energy, humor and of course the sheer number of exotic cars. They way you test drive the cars is amazing. The way they are meant to be driven. Take them to the limit and really see what they are all about. If you stop making new shows a whole bunch of people all over the world including me will be devastated. What would we watch on TV?
Anyway you guys and the whole crew are amazing, keep up the good work and don’t stop surprising us.

Its like you learn my mind! You seem to know so much about this, such as you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with some p.c. to drive the message house a little bit, but instead of that, this is great blog. A fantastic read. I will certainly be back.
