We’ve just heard it confirmed by BBC brass that the next series of Top Gear will be in HD.
That means all the races, supercars sliding from left to right of your telly screens and the boys’ comedic adventure, all in crystal clarity.
As Jeremy said a few weeks’ back, filming is well underway on Series 14 and if all goes to plan it’ll be on your screens by mid-November.
Until then, it’s the usual grainy repeats on Dave – or the bulging archive of on-demand clips we’ve got here at TopGear.com. You should know where they are by now…

Hurray – as I said in my letter to TG Mag – If CBeebies can do it for ‘In the Night Garden’ etc. then it’s a crime for the Beeb’s best show [Topgear] not to be broadcast in HD.
That’s fantastic news. Firstly Top Gear will be in HD, secondly I will now have the excuse to go and buy an HD box as ‘er indoors also loves Top Gear but doesn’t see the point of cricket in HD. Well, she doesn’t actually see the point of cricket so I was never going to win that one.

This morning I’ve seen the boys in Bucharest and I had a shoort talk with them, they are filming the last episode from this series, they had some kind of challenge in Romania, they drove from the seaside to Bucharest in California/Lp560 Spyder/Volante and Mr. James May was late about 40 minutes like always. They are going to film tommorow in the mountains, they have closed the section of the road where they will film. I asked Hammond how the filming is going and he replied “F… Awesome”. I met them this morning in front of Marriot Hotel, they were studying the map(placed on the hood of a Range Rover)
Jeremy, Richard, and James in HD? Ugh.
All those beautiful cars in HD though…? Sweet.
All in all, a pretty even trade.

YAHOO I HAVE A HD TV SO ALL THE GREAT CARS IN HD AND THE STIG IN HD AND THE GUESTS IN HD AND JEREMY AND RICHARD AND JAMES IN HD (well not so good to see Clarkson, hamster and james in HD) but STILL TOP GEAR IN HD. CAN’T WAIT FOR NEXT SERIES.
If using Freesat do not get excited as the BBC have dropped the quality of the HD transmission drastically to free up room on the satelitte BBC HD is now only marginally better than standard channels.

Cant wait. Didn’t see why it wasn’t done before now. So much budget goes into the camera work it was very strange as to why it’s been so long. Guess there’s only so many HD cameras the Beeb can buy with our money.

I really enjoy this Topgear! Stumbled across this on youtube and cant get enough. There is nothing even close in the U.S.
