Today is a good day. Well, if you were worried about James May’s Lego house, it is. And judging by the number of fans on our Save James’ Lego House Facebook group, a lot of you were.
Legoland has announced today that the house will live on, only not as a house or even sections of it.
Instead, it’s going to be a ‘giant Lego set for the nation’, as the three-million-plus bricks used to build James’ house are being transported – possibly as we speak – to Legoland in Windsor, where they will be used as part of an annual building event.
Which is kind of cool, though not quite as cool as it would’ve been to save the whole thing as a complete building.
We’d say it was the spirit of the house that lives on, but we’re not into clichés.
More details will be announced early next year, and all proceeds from the annual building event will go to Lego’s charity, The National Autistic Society.
You can have a look at the last breaths of James’ Lego house in our destruction gallery. But be warned, it’s quite depressing.
