Witness, for the first time anywhere on the internet (well, anywhere, actually) the latest of Jeremy’s explosive telly stunts.
These exclusive pictures give us a glimpse of what happened when Clarkson tried to settle one of the great mysteries of our time – who is the fastest off-roading celebrity?
It’s a feature for his new DVD Clarkson: Duel, which has already placed the Stig in Puerto Banus and forced JC to drive a Jag XKR in flippers.
This time, there’s more fire. The set-up starts with Jeremy, pop singer bloke Ronan Keating, newsreader Kate Silverton and rugby player Matt Dawson drawing straws for a selection of secondhand 4×4s, including a Mitsubishi Shogun and a bright orange Lada Niva.
Once the cars are allocated, they are rigged with explosives and a timed detonator, forcing each celebrity to lap an off-road course before the car explodes. They either cross the line, bail or get fried.
We can’t give away the result, but can show you these, er, explosive pictures of the Shogun during the timed run.
All will be revealed later this week in a TopGear.com-exclusive video preview of the DVD, which is pre-orderable now on Amazon.
The one clue we do have is a member of the film crew overhearing Jeremy saying ‘the only decent car here is that old Shogun’. Given Jeremy’s overwhelming desire to win any of the Top Gear challenges the boys do on the telly, we can bet it was him that went up in smoke…

You can trust the top gear team to be up to their usual tricks of crazy challenges that we all love. Wonder if top gear have ever tested a mcClaren F1 and if they have, what was it’s lap time? Look forward to the new series.

Fitting that Jeremy chose the Shogun, they are called Pajero in other parts of the world… which amusingly means, um, ’self abuser’ in Spanish.
I prefer watching Michael Schumacher as The Stig on Top Gear i find him awesome driving, i think he would put on a good show if Michael Schumacher was a stuntman.

Clarkson has being doing these back then vhs now dvd ’s since 1995 and has released one every year since, watched a old one other day 1996 unleashed on cars and one of the funniest things was his hair lmfao sooo fuuunnyy!

I can’t believe a stunt this dangerous can be attempted within the United Kingdom. Someone could have got seriously killed or hurt. Hopefully it was Jeremy! He never cares for the wellbeing of the many celebrity guests that make his shows and DVD’s what they are.

My comment has nothing to do with the article to which it is appended. So, those expecting continuity are about to be disappointed. Nonetheless, it is, I believe, a relevant comment for those of us live who outside the UK and must, therefore, rely on the internet for our TopGear fix. For convenience sake, I have chosen a question-answer-reason format.
Question: when is TopGear like a cheap date with a tease?
Answer: When it promises more than it delivers.
Reason: A cheap date with a tease gets you all excited and stops the fun before you’re finished. TopGear gets you all excited about a video series … and then leaves one or more crucial clips “unavailable at the moment.”
Result: Frustration!!!!
In other words, please, Please, PLEASE let me see ALL of a series at one time. I will respect you in the morning. I will even be back to see more. I promise. I have to. I can’t see TopGear any other way than through your internet feeds. And the last thing I want when getting my TopGear fix is to be left wondering what happened next. …
