In an interview with the BBC today, Clarkson has confirmed he suffers from biological abnormality in the cranial region.
“My mouth isn’t connected to my brain,” Jeremy tells BBC News. “It’s just ears, mouth and speak, that’s the trouble.”
“Sometimes a little voice in my head goes ‘maybe I shouldn’t have said that’, but then it’s too late…”
Traumatic medical conditions aside, Jeremy also discusses Strictly Come Dancing, the X Factor… and why neither James May nor Richard Hammond is a woman.
He also talks money, refuting recent allegations that he earns more than THE WHOLE OF THE NORTH OF ENGLAND. “I read in the papers how much I’m earning and fall about laughing,” he says, “because I’m sure it’s not that much, otherwise I’d have an enormous boat.”
“I’m literally not the slightest bit interested in money,” he continues. “I just don’t pay any attention to money, it’s rather vulgar.”
For the full interview – including Jeremy’s opinion on Trinny and Susannah – head on over to the BBC site.

I think this is a perfect example of why this show works so well… The fact that the boys would rather spend money on making the show the best it can be speaks well of all their characters.
We know that their ‘wardrobe’ comes from… well… their wardrobe, the shots of both the BBC office and the crib room they use out at the track in Surrey is far from luxurious. Every cost cut seems to be made to make what we see each week the very best and that give the show more of a sense of credibility to me than anything else.
Other shows would, and have, gone belly up because of pay disputes, perk wrangling, screen time etc… where as Jeremy, James and Richard seem to be in the awesome position of having other jobs to supplement them phaffing about on TG
I have no doubt if TG got into financial ’schtum’ and they were asked – odds on they would probably PAY the Beeb to continue doing what they obviously love (or more likely they would probably volunteer without being asked)
He’s always been wrong in the head
Nah…Wrong in the head? Everybody’s “wrong in the head” at some point….that’s what makes the show cool! Keep being “wrong” now…good job!
really? I have just bought your book, half price.
The mans a genius so funny. You cant complain about him unless your really really sad and have nothing to do.
that explains alot haha lol
jezza loves x factor?!?!?! wooohoooo!!! omg. jemermy, ur sooo cool. i think if we meet, we shud do a high five
nice interview. made me smile
…..—..
It’s not wrong.. everybody’s just too politically correct with their entire lives which is actually incorrect and utterly wrong.
@jamesmayjr you said it!
More power to that disconnected brain!!!
well saying “i am not interested in money” is easy if you earn enough to drive almost any car youd want
I wouldnt care much either.
that mouth isnt connected to brain that is true because proof peel p50 video
there is a fine line between genius & insanity…
Jezza’s genius – insanity ratio is probably about: 89:11
Hey Jeremy, what do you mean by money being vulgar? I think its certainly in demand but what would you see as a great way for us petrol-heads, I’m American so call me a grease monkey if you want but I went to Oxford so you fill in the blanks, to go and have fun with the art or just laughs that you do on the show?
Don’t add a woman to the show, it is not needed. BBC you have a successful show, leave as it. Give the guys plenty of money and be proud you have one of the highest viewing shows of the planet. I have even seen people in Cuba watching the shows from tapes their relatives on the US brought.
The funny thing is that he is the funniest person in the show in my opinion. Aren’t we all a little crazy in the head sometimes?
To J.Clarkson: what is it the man once said? “You are awful, but I like you” That about sums it up.
To the BBC: if you are doing this to cause the show to appeal to women, it already does. Check that off the list.
If you are doing it to appear politically correct, you may want to look at who is in the top offices first, rather than trying to find a woman who would be willing to do some of the really idiotic things these boys do. And for the record, most people, men and women, I think like to believe that women in general have more sense. Except when it comes to men, where we have no sense. Which may be why these boys are so popular with us ladies….
You have a good thing. Don’t mess with it. That is so American…:)
jeremy clarkson is the best. straight up. I watch top gear everyday and always enjoy it. me and him have the same first and last initials lool even though that doesn’t matter. who ever has anything against jeremy can feel free to keep it to themselves as he always says haha
You don’t worry about money Clarkson because you can afford not to. Still look forward to Duel though and I’m definitely a fan!
Hey, I have that problem, its caled not being able to put up with idiots!!!! May top gear live on an on
I think TopGear is a great programm and the 3 guys have a marvellous sense of humour!
JC has always carried the show and his combination of hyperbole and irreverent humour are probably the most important ingredients as far as i’m concerned. And of course, anybody who regularly pisses off the PC brigade, the Daily Mail, Strictly Come Dancing fans and precious Middle England, is fine by me.
Yeah, he does often milk this formula way too much by parodying himself to death and the smutty obnoxious 14-year-old public school boy act gets a bit tiresome sometimes but then again, that’s part of his charm, not knowing when to quit
Also, his style of satire translates very well to the written word and I have always loved his newspaper columns: a good example is his Sunday Times motoring section – just don’t expect to learn much about the car he’s reviewing but enjoy a good laugh instead. I do love cars but having a laugh is more important in life – so a combination of the two is brilliant!
We need more humourous honest-to-god straight-talking outspoken people like JC, even if they don’t always engage their brain – that’s only human!
But Jeremy, I thought you have an enormous boat..?
Alhzeimers, that’s all! I think I may have it too coz I can’t remember s—!
Reading through the linked bits from this article of Jeremy’s other stuff, I read a bit about his ‘issues’ with Australia (namely the rugby) and had a bit of a chuckle. But it did get me thinking about the ongoing ‘what has an Aussie ever invented…’ type foot in mouth malarkey he is so good at.
And I think I have found the mother of all inventions, because without it, Top Gear as it is today might not have even been possible.
Did you know that every time we see Mr Clarkson’s great big mug through the lens of one of those on board cameras, that he has to give thanks to the “Colonials” for not having a cameraman propped up beside him spoiling his ride
Apparently in the late 70’s Channel 7 in Sydney decided to enhance the racing experience for their customers they would bolt a camera inside a racing car as it went round the track… and at that moment, Racecam was born…
As to the inventions for the home… I might ask him the following… does he have, or has he ever used… a powerboard, a roller door, a baby capsule for his car, a note pad, or drunk a can of drink with a poptop ring tab… yep… All from the Land Down Under
Now I shall sit back with a “She’ll be right” attitude and grin laconically at the expected barrage of bad Aussie jokes heading my way
LOLZ
Heh heh love Jezza and his outspoken ways!!!
Jezza…….What a legand!!!!!!!11
No really just joking he’s always been wrong in the head
Love him or hate him, you can’t knock the mans hustle… He’s outspoken, sarcastic and tells it like it is, even if it is a bit dodgy at times. That’s why we love him and tune into the show every week. Long live Mr Clarkson, Mr May and Mr Hammond.
Keep up the good work boys.
Big love n respect
Manc Lass.
What I like about him is that he says what MOST of us are thinking but for reasons of social harmony we all just stick our heads in the sand a bit.
I have always found Clarkson to be that much more brilliant because of that lack of thought before speech. That’s why he has been around for so long, because he is able to get away with it, due to lack of thought. He would be in more trouble if he for a second considered what he was about to say. I have never been offended and doubt that I ever will.
Wrong in the head, right in the trousers ;o)
Isn’t it funny that Jeremy can make outlandish comments and come across as witty and slightly caddish, but then when someone like…ooh… say your mealy mouthed coworker makes what they think is a smart statement you simply want to pull their bottom lip up and staple it to the back of their head!!!!
when are we getting new episodes of top gear.
dave keep repeating the old ones.
Okay now I KNOW Clarkson is wrong in the head…
SHANE WARNE?????
Really? I think someone is missing a point here – The Boys on Top Gear are Funny, that’s why we love them.
Shane Warne is just a Punchline!
Could you really find no one better to be involved with the Aussie TG?
what brain ?
They’ve got it all wrong! Clarkson is the sane one.. i mean, dropping a piano on a Morris Marina is completely natural!
Jeremy….you are wrong in the head! Why you would buy a Ford, GT or otherwise, is beyond me! Are not thou a Range Rover kind of guy?
jeremys awsome and funny but a bit rong in the head top gear is my Favourite show its awsome fith gear is **** and ******* ha ha

Ummmmm….wrong in the lead, you mean…..ha…haaa…haaaaaa
Your amazing Mr Clarkson!! and dont you change!
“one eyed idiot” priceless its true though!
High Five! *High five the laptop and breaks the screen off* Ohh shit .. -^-
….
btw(by the way) dont suppose you would punch piers morgan again would you?? cmon! ill pay you to shut that prat up! lol xxx
I like to know why Jeremy Clarkson dropped the new BMW Z4 picture on the floor and left it there rather then placing the picture someplace on the COOL …. NOT COOL board during the second last episode of the 13th season.
I don’t understand it since he said during the show “If I only could have one car for the rest of my life this would be the one” something like that anyway. I drive a M3 2002 in the winter time and a BMW Z4 Roadster 2008 in the summer time. Love both cars. Love the show btw
Come on Jeremy what gives???????
Jeremy, I was thinking perhaps you can during the next season find a spot someplace for the BMW Z4 on your board that would be nice unless the floor sweeper has put it into the trash by now.
We love the Z4 in Canada our top speed is only 110 KM/hour (we do drive 130 to 140 KM here and then LOL when the police is having coffee and donuts we might even drive a bit faster ~grin~)
Just a suggestion Jeremy I know you do what you want anyway LOL
So hooked on your show, what a GREAT TEAM the TopGear Team is!!!
Hey JC….what about that new Ford Taurus, you like? I have to agree, the old Ford Taurus was very good on gas!!!!
