Greeting readers. It’s about midnight, and I’ve just got in from the edit. Tonight I’ve been working on the track film for show 1, which this time is helmed by James in a couple of massively overpowered limos – thought it’d be a change from the low slung two-door stuff.
The editor and I have been chuckling over May and the Stig playing Top Trumps, a game the Stig, frankly, struggles with. But more of that a week on Sunday, when we’ll be dishing up our new offerings.
I’ll be doing a rundown of stuff that’s coming in another blog, but first we must take care of some very important housekeeping, because for this series only, we’re moving to 9pm on November 15. We had no choice really: X Factor on at the same time with the Results Show, Cowell on storming form, the whole nation glued – we know when to bravely bugger off and wait until the storm passes.
Anyway, for God’s sake tell all your mates about the new temporary arrangements, and then we must also address the issue of the kids.
Basically, we know children get much pleasure from watching three grown men being thick, but we also know it’s school on Monday and 9pm might be a bit late for the younger ones, so – and I speak as a parent myself here – mums and dads, for God’s sake let them stay up.
What’s a bit of grouchiness at breakfast between families? And OK your kids might grow up a bit thicker because they slept through the first lesson, but hey, at least they’ll know the horsepower of an Aston Martin DBS, even if they never end up successful enough to buy one on account of staying up to watch Top Gear.
And teachers, if you’re reading this, have a heart after you’ve checked my grammar. Do you really have to do brainy stuff like chemistry first thing on Monday? Why not teach the kids how to sleep on their desktops, or better still have a quiz about BBC motoring programmes?
After all, a typical episode of Top Gear contains maths, geography, physics, politics and if James is doing a film, maybe even some Latin.
So there we are, our future is in your hands, parents and teachers. And kids, if none of this working, just put all the clocks back an hour in the house.
Right, I’m off to bed now, because we’re rehearsing Top Gear Live in the morning – cars on fire, all sorts of spectacular nonsense – coming to YouTube soon via someone’s camera phone, and we must make sure we set fire to the right cars. Back soon.

top gear is my favourite ever programme. i recommend world of top gear at beauliea. the space shutle and the german double deckers and jezzas limo are fake but apart from that, the real things r there. world of top gear is near bond exhibitions. i saw loads of tg cars including the 24hr bmw race car which hammond peed in!

i luv cars and i have sat in a nissan gtr, a nissan 370z and 2 audi r8’s. my friens are very jealous. at goodwood fos 09, this happened plus i saw vetrons, atoms, citroen gt’s, a one off exlusive 1.3million pound vette and much more! i am going next year for a whole weekend!! cant wait. i also cant wait to xmas cos im getting a ps3 and loads of driving games including nfs shift, supercar challenge, ferrari challenge and gran turismo 5!

It tyook you long enough to get the Cali on the show and why do you have the Aston DBSh*te on the show? Why do you care about the kids anyway? Top Gear has been ruined by it’s efforts to appeal to kids; Top Gear Live, Big Book of Top Gear, other kids Top Gear cr*p, Sti Shampoo(?) and Bath toys(?). Series 1-11 wre so much better than 12 or 13 because you didn’t care as much

Oh no. Couldn’t care less about X-Factor (whatever that is), but that means that it will be 10 pm when it airs, so it’s done by 11, those nice guys on the interwebs need maybe 15-20 minutes to encode it, another 15-20 minutes until I have it, though the HD version will obviously take longer… so I will probably watch the SD version that night and the HD version the day after… oh well, could be worse I guess.
Ps: Why don’t you, like, at least sell the episodes (at the same time they air in the UK) in countries where no TG is shown at all?

I wouldn’t even consider X-Factor a threat to Top Gear as it’s only watched by teenage girls who like listening to a bunch of talentless wannabe popstars who’ll never be heard of once that horrific shambles of a programme finishes, which will hopefully be the last one. “Who’s got the X-Factor?”, none of them…they’re all shite!!!

Why oh why oh why hasn’t TG dropped cars from a Chinook at 3000 feet yet to see which is fastest? James can design the tailfins and weld the bonnets shut, the RAF will do it for free as a military exercise so it’ll cost less than Jeremy’s haircut. With a ton or so of gravity thrust, I predict 3000 to 0 feet terminal speed about 300mph. Kids really need to know these things to learn maths and physics. Obviously the bullseye should be a caravan.

The crap on ‘the other side’ is just that, crap. Top Gear is one of the few shows on the BBC worth paying a license fee for and it is miles better than anything else on any other channel!

there is a road in spain that starts in a villige called parcent witch leads to a town called guardalest spelling is prob a mile off people i myself took a ride around in my 1992 ford siera cosworth in may this year i will bet money that you guys in somthing a litle more up market than a pocket rocket would find that road to be one of if not the best road you will ever drive on but be warned that after an hour or so you are both mentaly and physicly drained check it out i think you will be very happy x

I am sooo jealous of the UK dwellers as I now live in Orlando Florida after moving from the beautiful Brockweir in the Wye Valley. So now I cant see the up-to-date TG programmes.I wish we could pay a subscription to get such TV, any chance? I have paid a license fee for the last 20+years in the UK if that helps! Anyway, I have my sister bringing me the next couple of TG mags so that will have to do until BBC America catches up with the latest. Top regards to the TG team and keep up the good work!

I can’t wait 4 the new seris of tg. I saw the stig do the loop de loop on top gear live at earls court london. I am a big fan of da show and I can’t wait to watch it. I think its really funny and I like the clips. I especially like the mail race clip where richard and james have a clamity ova a camera which they hit their heads on. It is apparently incediably sharp!!!

Dear Top Gear gents, thanks for life. Welcome back, at last I can enjoy tv again. Watching the three luckiest men alive has always been a pleasure, but sometimes things happen……. and words have to be spoken.
Now I am not one too open my mouth quickly. I did,nt moan when Mr. Hammond went off the beaten track in his rocket car, nor did I say anything when Mr. Clarkson fell in love with Elton John’s protégee singer friend on the show. But on tonights show censorship was inorder.
In all of your shows if memory serves me, one man has always refused to hurry himself, let alone run. But reverse a truck into his Dacia Sandero and……..

I don’t know why but I was a bit let down by the opening of the series. It was good but not as hilarious as the seasons 11 and 12. And that lambo crash almost made me weep. *Sob Sob*

The first episode was… well RUBBISH! Top Gear should be about speed, sexy cars, adrenalin! The only exciting part of the whole episode was when they drove in the tunnels under the peoples palace. And thats it. They spend most of the time showing us how they slept in cars and James got lost. Then when they finally reached the destination – best driving road, it’s the end of the show! How about actually driving that road!!!
Dear TG, take a look at the previous seasons – s10 or s11. You did great job back then! Now you rubbish! Season 13 wasn’t great, and I’m afraid season 14 is not gonna be good either.
the first show in the 14th series is THE GREATEST except the part when james may crashed that rubbish gallardo into that cool DACIA classic

What complete and utter disappointing rubbish the latest series of Top Gear is. The show until now has been excellent. God knows what the BBC were thinking when they sanctioned this drivel. The odd supercar review mixed in ridiculous challenges and on screen banter that is neither funny nor informative. Jeremy, give it up .. return to the good old days of entertaining or knock this on the head. I was hoping the 1st show of the series was just a one-off ill judged episode. Episode 2 confirmed the rot has set in. What a shame top gear has come to this ..
