Hello TopGearers. Been a while since we last spoke but that’s about to change, as we’re busy working on the new series and doubtless you’ll want to know what we’re up to.
In the meantime, I’d like to put out an appeal to our extended TG family. Are there any of you out there who’ve got a car that’s been in the family for years, and is about to be scrapped?
Don’t panic, we don’t want to blow it up or anything. We’re just looking for a car or two that have got a really long family history to them; that have basically been like a faithful pet dog in the household.
You know the sort of thing – mum and dad had it, mum rushed to hospital when pregnant to have first born, then the kids grew up and learnt to drive in it, had first snog in it. Went to V Festival with mates in it etc etc. Just cars, basically, that could tell a whole chunk of the family’s life if they could talk.
I’m looking for a couple of them for a new film we’re doing. So send us a couple of paragraphs with the details to tgweb@bbc.co.uk, and try not to live on the Isle of Skye. And remember: interesting life. About to be scrapped.

What do you think?

Scrapping a car is like murdering a person who would do such a thing? >.<

If it’s not too late, I say come over and get my 1992 Chevrolet Lumina APV. It’s got 230,730 miles on it and is in top running order. Pretty rubbish driving condition as the 3rd-to-4th change has problems, but it got me through a rough patch where I lost a *lot* of income and lost my previous car last year. I imagine the family that had it before me had some memories in it, but I didn’t know them lol. All I know is that the transmission started acting wonky on them so they put a for sale sign in it. I put 17,000 miles on it, and I’m sure the old 3.8 V6 can deal with anything the boys can do to her.

people talk such bollox, F355, RS500, knobheads. My mini-van was my dads window cleaning round, bought in 1964 the year I was born, was my dads’, then my brothers and now it’s mine, you’d think it restored but it’s knackered, I could probably build a new one with the amount of fixing it needs, still goes though providing I add as much oil and water as fuel …. did the head gasket on the roadside last month mid-journey with a washing machine in the back.
Love it to bits but it’s about dead.

Are people that gullible that they really think others are scrapping F355′s and RS500′s?? Get the hell off the internet now. Same goes for the idiots posting details of their cars on here when the article specifies an email address to contact…and even more so to the retard that doesn’t know that the car at the top of the page is a Mustang.
Jesus, I can imagine the bulk of you people are the morons that now feel confident that your 330d is the best car in the office car park and you are more than qualified to back that fact up because you’re a petrol head who watches Top Gear. Idiots.

have an 04 Element…. tranny broke on it; hopefully covered under extended warrenty… i’d beat on that little bread box everyday, but i’d baby it once in a while
also, my parents used to have a 96 golf cl grade. went camping with it, also gave it a car wash at the campsite! until we found out tranny was gone, that was when we decided to scrap it and buy the element.

1973 Zil-131 ex-Soviet nuclear decontamination tanker anyone? 7 tonnes, 6 ltr V8 petrol engine, 1700 miles from new.
I think I’ll save it though as the scrap prices are going through the roof again!

I’d love to see Top Gear scrapped. I think they are responsible for countless teenage deaths by glorifying bad and aggressive driving.
As a teacher, I know just how much it influences boys of 14plus.
Be positive role models, you influence 1000s of kids!
