Episode four: more out-takes and the post-show discussion

Posted by Richard Porter at 9:45 pm on Sunday July 18, 2010

So there we are then, show four of this summer’s six part series…

The web-types were busy with a camera as usual in the studio, so we’ve got more behind-the-scenes stuff below. Here’s James giving us a unique tour of the motorhomes in the studio:

Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.

While here Jeremy reveals his extensive post-show preparations:

We do know it’s not a very long run, but Top Gear only has a small production team, and our budget isn’t limitless, so we’d always rather do quality than quantity.

Which brings me neatly to the all-important question: who thought tonight’s programme was quality, and who thought it was just a load of pointless mucking about?

(EDIT: Apologies if the videos aren’t working for you – we’re having issues with our video server. We’ll fix it asap)

i was actually laughing out loud during the episode. i loved it.

yes the fire was a set up, and the car going over the cliff was a set up. The best bits were the subtle bits, May in his wetsuit in the petrol station, may and hammond using their bogs.

What I am hoping is that there will be another race like veryon vs plane or gtr vs bullet train. Also one of their driving adventures like the 3 sports cars in Romainia.

then finish it off with a special like africa

Unlike other SERIES, I’ve not bothered to watch this on Sunday and tend to catch the repeat. I even, ahem, downloaded them instead about a week after (as I sometimes forget) which I find is much more practical for fast forwarding through the dross.

So, as a TG fan, stop wating my licence fee or put it to better use. Either will do.

The flush that sounded at the beginning of the British Motorhome tour wasn’t real as those toilets don’t have a proper flush like that.

I am an american, and I thought the race through Alabama was the funniest shit I have seen in months. That fact that they had the balls to do that in hillbilly land awesome it was almost like watching a episode of JackAss.

Laugh out loud funny, keep it up boys. A few more episodes a series would not go astray, you could always cut down on star in reasonably priced car if you need to save a few quid. India is a good place for a race, or enter a car in the Targa Tasmania (Australia) where you can enter old cars an hoon them flat out along public roads, in the same spirit as the BMW/Silverstone race.

I have been a Top Gear fan since the start, but this last series apart from a couple of moments was the poorest I have watched and also the shortest, it’s a shame top gear is not as long as it used to be and I hope this will change in the next series, I also hope there will be more of the Specials, such as Vietnam and Botswana.
Come on Top Gear lets get back to the way things were !

i think they need to dedicate one episode per season to catching up with the new cars that came out during the half season hiatus. the selection of those cars could be put to a vote online with the goal being a new lap leader. i would like to see the ssc, sls, acr and a few other acronyms in the hands, or whatever he has at his upper extremities, of the stig

As ever a wonderful series – last of the summer wine for Petrol heads. Good job the magazine exists to keep us going between series.
