First Top Gear US trailer released

You will remember that we announced a new US version of your favourite show earlier this year. Well, here’s some more news: the first glimpse of America’s very own Top Gear has been released.

And here it is:

We’ve been chatting to the three presenters in the past few weeks – Adam Ferrara, Tanner Foust and Rutledge Wood – so we’ll bring you more news as we get it. In the meantime, if you’ve got any questions fire them into the handy space below and we’ll do our best to get them answered.

What do you think?

Are they going to act like Claskson, May and Hammond or will they have their own personality? Also will it be available to view this side of the pond?

This better be on Dave…

I’m from Ohio and this just seems like a crude parody of every yokel from Appalachia to the Rockies. And why is there so much plaid? There is a dearth of sophistication which harkens back to Bum Fighting and Backyard Wrestling (look them up). I would be surprised of Larry the Cable Guy was not one of their first guests. Jay Leno would have put together a better show.

This doesn’t look half bad. There are many, many ways in which this could have muddied the waters of the Top Gear brand, but this looks like it might just be good.

Looks fun but i think it would stil have to grow on me..

I agree,
too much plaid!

It’s the characters who make Top Gear awesome, and these set of guys just look like every other car show.

I think Jay Leno would have been a great choice to take Clarksons roll as the main host.

Also, I think it’s great that Clarkson, Hampster and May all have their own distinct personalities..Sometimes they clash and that’s what makes the show! These guys don’t seem to do it.

Anyway, hope this one is as good as the UK version which is awesome! ;)

The Balboni and the Superleggera reviews look good, but apart from that it looks pretty crap. I’d probably should download their supercar reviews, but I don’t think I could tolerate those awful accents behind the wheel of an incredible car, it’d ruin it. Anyway proper Top Gear will test the new Superleggera eventually…also I’m a Brit if you haven’t noticed already.

And why the hell is it on the History Channel…?! If there are any wierdos who want to watch it the green and pleasant land of the UK, you need Sky as they do all the documentary channels…well all of the American channels for that matter.

pllease let them use american stig!!!!

It’s like a parody. A bad one.

too much “awesome”!!

It is a mistake toi compare this to UK Top Gear because of course the UK version is the original.

However don’t underestimate the yanks. First time I watched the US version of The Office I thought it was terrible. A week or two later I was hooked, and no wonder it’s become a massively successful show.

give it time… despite the presenters not having the same instant charisma of the UK trio… the way that dude jumped his car and bending it was funny.

Hm, tuff to say. Some American Spin off… I guess one should give those guys a chance. But to be honest. I dont think theyll get to the same childish and beloved behavior of JC RH and Captain Slow. Its kinda weird that they get a Top Gear show … their cars truly are horriefiengly badly made. I wanna Sign up for the German one. That would indifenetly be some Fun. Also we are crazy enough to do so. I mean look at some cars we made ^^ Gumpert…. Black Series. The new 911 Gt2 RS… and so on. BBC … do a German one, pls. I just wanna see what itll be like.

I agree with you John,a baaad parody.I prefer the original TopGear’s American adventure instead of this.

there should only be one top gear not 3 or 4 just one uk,j.c, j.m, r.h are classic i don’t think that anyone would meter up to them afar from the cars they are the reason why i watch. there are alot of car show on telly but this guys shine them all

Too much short sleeves, awesome and rednecks.

That looks absolutely revolting. Does America even realise there’s such a thing as wit?

I can’t really get an opinion on the american show because we just haven’t seen enough to judge.

Thing is, i believe it has a positive side, which is watching TopGear while the original show is in production. It’s like having 2 series instead of 1.
On the other hand one of the things i really love about Topgear is that British feel to it, which obviously the Americans can’t reproduce.

Still, let’s see how it goes when it comes out…

To be fair to them, although it doesn’t quite live up to the usual Top Gear standards, that does not mean it’s a bad show. After all, Top Gear is one of the most popular tv shows ever. Also, these people doesn’t know eache others like the u.k trio does yet, so it’s impossible to have that chemistry between them right of the bat. Remember when James was introduced? He didn’t fit in quite as comfortable as he does now.

That aside. U.S top gear. (3rd. gear from now on, as that’s normally top gear in an american auto-box) has it’s own american , sort of backwoods flavor. It’s got the cheap car challenge, but with a brougham of all things. And I loved the way they had a moonshine track, the essence of american motorsport! The presenters themselves offer a great mix, really. The only thing I’m not so sure of though, is the fact that Tanner knows how do drive. I mean… The uk trio are above the average road user, simply because of their experience with fast cars through the show, but Tanner’s a paid pro. What’s the excuse to use a Stig then?

do they do the star in a reasonably priced car thing too? If they do, will that affect hat guests are on the proper tg?
Also, do they have stig’s American cousin?

American Top gear…
Imagine they come to the U.K for a challange between the U.K top gear boys.Thats some to watch….

Do we get this over here whilst our TG is off air?

Wow. That’s just terrible. The concept is great and we all know it works with regular Top Gear, but the presenters??? Ugh, are they trying to fail???

The yanks better not bloody ruin it! The austrailian version of topgear is actually very good, but nothing beats the original. Top Gear best show on TV
