The boys are well underway now and this next episode is, if we say so ourselves, our favourite so far (apologies for the rogue ‘u’ there, Americans, but at the British Broadcasting Corporation we have strict standards to keep).
In the Moonshine Challenge, Adam, Rutledge and Tanner have to each buy a car for $1,000, and then put them through a series of crazy hooch-running related challenges in North Carolina. Meanwhile, Modern Family’s Ty Burrel gets on the Top Gear test track.
As usual, just hit the History Channel at the mysterious-sounding time of 10/9c and all be revealed. And let us know what you think in the handy space below.
And if you missed last week’s episode – including a rather excellent ‘blind man drifting’ bit – you can watch it right here (as long as you’re in America).

Listening to all the people commenting on Top Gear USA you would have sworn it raped their childhood, the way they hate it. Having watched the first 3 episodes I feel it’s definitely improved episode by episode. The hosts seem to work well together, I just think they need to improve on their reading voices, that is, when they talk to the camera as if they’re talking to the audience. Top Gear UK works because the 3 presenters work really well together, and have had a long time to get to know one another. Hopefully TGUSA last long enough that the presents will build the same quality rapor.
TG USA isn’t going to replace TG UK, but it may prove to be a nice diversion while we wait for next TG UK to come out.
For all those people who have had their childhood raped by TG USA, I apologise sincerely.

And I am not sure what other folk are doing here but….
I have watched 2 episodes of TG USA and guess what? Yes, I can choose to not watch it and this is what I will now do (or should that be “not do”).
Also, perhaps it is possible some of the “negative” writing in here is an attempt to ask for more programming of the type produced by the TG UK team. You know the kind of thing, something fresh well made and perhaps bubbling with originality.
simply, isn’t one of the reasons TG UK worked so well (even the very first episodes) the fact it was fresh/unique.
Sadly, if you are happy with a franchised product then don’t be to shocked if standards become homogenised, but then there will always be those who prefer a franchise drive through to the original thing.

Sadly, if you are happy with a franchised product then don’t be overly shocked if quality drops. What I mean is that in order to franchise/reproduce a product, it must first be reduced to its components and this doesn’t work very well with presenters.
But then there will always be those who prefer a franchise drive through to the local content/talent.

I have tried to like this show, it’s not that the content or theme is bad; it’s just there is an underlying lack of intellect, synergy and quickness of wit, and it is sadly missing.
It’s like one of those long sausage shaped balloons, but only half blown up, so that there’s a thin wobbly bit at the end; it’s just not satisfying.

I’ve given them the benefit of trying but it is not worth it. Not an original thought between them. Nothing entertaining or informative or even useful about the show. Please make them go away. I’m done with them. If not how about asking Jay Leno, Alonso Bolin, and Danica Patrick to host it. Then maybe we could see a Top Gear USA that would be worthy of watching.

Oh yes…
Top Gear US with Jay Leno would be worth a look.
As for Alonso Bolin (who?), and Danica Patrick well really, have you seen her in an interview?

This was another example of ignorant meets excessive budgets. What a horrible episode.
That being said, this episode did have some decent writing and it didn’t sound so scripted. I guess the TopGear writers actually read these posts.
Next time don’t show grown men playing with fire and drinking moonshine on a technically knowledgable and educationally entertaining car show. Plus, seat belts need to be worn at ALL times, not just sometimes, when you’re driving a Caddy.

I don’t know if you lot are aware of this but if you want a fix in the TG GB off season and don’t want to be stuck with all the copies, (I think there is even a Russian one now) then try Fifth Gear…
)
Not as good as TG GB but a LOT better than the TG franchise outlets.
P.s. did you know Clarkson was on this show back in the early days (I don’t think it was called Fifth Gear then

I like that they tried to bring Top Gear to the US but the hosts don’t do it for me, Tanner is the only legit car guy in the mix and they all have high pitched voices. It needs a guy like Clarkson who is opinionated and doesn’t think everything is great.

This show blows the big one. Leave me with the trio from the UK. Even the test track that the Stig uses to test the cars sucks.I hate everything about the US version of this show and I’m American. This guys are lame and not funny at all. At least with Clarkson, May and Hammond you get a laugh and they show real cars.

get rid of tanner and the fat bearded one… I’ll take one of their jobs. Those two have the personalities of wet dishrags. Adam is fine, but they need to stop trying to force “mr clutch” on him… it doesn’t fit. Beardy McGlasses has the timing of herpes and the personality of cardboard. As for Tanner, get him drunk or high. He acts like a funnel was inserted in his behind and filled with shockcrete. Also the “writers” are just re-doing YOUR show and it’s pissing me off. I have a gazillion-billion ideas. Let me interview for that job, me Adam and…Sabine Schmidt or some other insanely gifted beautiful female would make a crew to rival yours you poncy secret Americans.

Boy, I think they could have cast this show alot better. For one, take Guido Adam Ferrara out (wise guy from new york isnt my ideal host), murder and hide fatledge wood (hipster with an awkward sense of humor) and leave tanner.
Replace the aforementioned idiots with Me, and someone intelligent, yet into cars (hard to find).

Not impressed, and yes I live in America. Cancel the U.S. show, because the UK version has more charm, character and chemistry.

The new Top Gear USA bites!!!! The reason the show is so popular is because of where it is and the cast. We don’t need or want a USA version. I watched 10 minutes of it and will never watch another episode. It won’t matter who you cast it will never be Top Gear!

I wish they would find some way to replace Rutledge. He is the worst of the three. Nothing about him is entertaining, and I just want to gut punch him right in his whiny voice.
