Yes, series 16 proper is finally underway, and we hope you enjoyed what was a rather historic episode.
Two lap records were smashed by the Atom V8 and a Liverpudlian comedian, and the rapid pace of a Stig’s evolution was laid bare to the outside world for the first time. We’re also fairly certain nobody has ever landed a helicopter on a Skoda on primetime television.
Let us know your thoughts below as usual, TopGear.commers. But before you put finger to keyboard, here’s some extra action to enjoy from behind the scenes at this week’s show.
First up, the three presenters give their thoughts on the new series, the new Stig, the weather, and rather poignantly, James’ recently deceased cat.
And here’s a brief meeting with the two men from the Skoda Yeti ‘tattoo’ test. Brace yourself for a glimpse at the results…
We’ll have more videos for you throughout the week including Richard’s first ever appearance at the morning meeting for the crew, and more from the board-topping John Bishop, so look out for those. In the meantime, you can let us know what you thought of the series opener in the handy space below…

Saw the episode, and as a Gainesville Florida native (hope you slept well, thanks for saving our tortoises from 441 traffic!), I wrote a song about it. I think you can guess the tune…
Oh say can you see,
How the Top Gear Brits cheat.
In the land that we fled,
Then so gallantly cast out.
And the multiple cuts, to keep the times uncompared,
Give proof for all time, that Tom Cruise was too fast.
Oh say do those slowpokes yet drive,
In the land of bought refs,
and the home of the DIVE!
And to Jeremy Clarkson, I hope you STILL smell that cow juice from Paynes Prairie every time you get in a car!!
Great show, keep ‘em coming!

I love you guys so much. Keep on keepin’ on. I really wish these mexican whiners would go away. They call us fat and lazy, they call the french pompous and they don’t mention the war to germany, what makes you so special, Mexico? You’re on the map now. We’re gonna take the piss.

I as well as my pals came following the best techniques on your site and suddenly I had an awful feeling I never thanked the blog owner for those tips. Most of the people became for that reason thrilled to read through all of them and now have in reality been loving these things. Thank you for indeed being so kind and for deciding on certain impressive areas most people are really wanting to be informed on. My honest apologies for not expressing gratitude to earlier.

I wanted to get in on the NES Icon Battle #1 but kinda missed the boat. I had already started on the television so thought why not finish it.
Having a ton of fun with these icons at the moment!
