Hello again. So, it’s been a pretty quiet week here at Top Gear. No major developments or notable events to speak of. Richard momentarily misplaced his mobile phone; the heater in James’s Ferrari went on the blink; Jeremy discovered for the first time just how many fake Clarksons there are on Twitter and was LITERALLY astounded. And that’s about it.
So, to Sunday’s show, and what a delicious programme we’ve cooked up for you this week. For starters, we’ve got a test of three very hot hatchbacks on our track. Jeremy does his best to pick a favourite from the Ford Focus RS500, Cosworth Impreza CS400 and Volvo C30 PCP before discovering a small but rather indigestible problem with each of them which will become apparent in due course.
Our main course this week is a tasty test of the Rolls-Royce Ghost, Mercedes S65 AMG and a rather unusual Bentley Mulsanne which involves a fat man and an untimely death. We’ll leave it at that for now rather than ruin your appetite for this sizzling two-parter.
Chuck in the news and a fizzy, refreshing interview with Jonathan Ross and you’ve got a hearty, meaty feast of yummy Top Gear goodness. We hope you like it.
We’re on at 8pm on BBC2 as always – and there’ll be more behind-the-scenes with the presenters straight after the show on TopGear.com too…

Loved tonights show. The little Yugo is gutsy if nothing else lol. I know it’s a hardly a comparison and, well what did we expect, but seeing the Merc and Rolls catch it up and pass it on in the drag race looked stunning. I expected to see that little car shake and shudder and maybe even take off with the force. Billiant. And my predictions of who would drive what couldn’t have been wronger lol. But still very good and as for the late James May ……. anyway lol
Jonathan Ross and Jeremy gave quite a performance too.

@ bEnny
jonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn, is right. I mean, Clarkson, Hammond, and May have been joking about their recording and transmission time for years. Maybe they will mention it on the next episode.

I am not sure if anyone has said this already, but why didn’t Jeremy and the producers at the BBC chuck in the new Audi RS3 which I am hanging out to see and have a closer look at. I think that you would find that its going into full scale production very soon and would be more than a match for what they gave us which lets be honest are limited make models of cars that no regular person even gets to hear about, or even a chance to purchase.
Cmon Jeremy!

Where will it all end? Is England turning into the old Albania or possibly Egypt?
With all the important and pressing problems in this country, everyone’s ranting about what someone has said. There’ll probably be a documentary about it soon……. or reality tv show ‘I’m a celebrity….I’m full of myself and I say things for attention, try and get me off the air…..’ Things to do now, bye.

How well will the above cars do against a Mitsubishi Evo X? Normally the car that would pop in to your head when talking about Subaru would be a Mitsubishi so not sure why it wasn’t featured! Yes the Volvo is the twist at the end, I get that – but you can buy the Evo at least

@ Your Father
The ONLY idiot would be you moron. Why should they show respect to other countries when you just showed disrespect to them? Hypocritical much, moron? What, are you seriously stupid enough to not have a sense of humor? Wake up to reality, idiot.

After looking at this baseball cap wearing line up of hot hatches, and all hot hatches bare a striking profile resemblance to a baseball cap… thus my loathing of all such machinery, I’ve come to the conclusion that the 3 cars featured above are pretty much useless to drive. I’m already a critic of hatchbacks, but dynamically these cars are just prone to understeer like trying to ride your grandmother as a child and yanking at her ear to turn, but the result of course is her going straight because of course, she wasnt build for such extreme manoeuvres. Now given these three cars new found power, its like asking her to hop on one foot while trying to turn with a bad back( or bad hatch back). Without even having driven the cars, I can tell that no amount of electronic wizardry can save you from yourself. These cars are now even more powerful, and a whole lot less safer. I can just see them now, turboes scattered all over the track, chassis twisted after 5000kms, and ignition systems stripped apart due to surges in power. Still, they do have some appeal. Just not to me. The non baseball cap wearing, crash helmet abusing enthusiast who only has respect for true track performers with a pedigree of performance, and not a need fpr speed attitude to making power. I say, let the ladies drive them, cause they where designed with them in mind, half a man, just like they are half the saloons they should have been. Saloons, a mans ride.

Around 2009 was the fist time I saw the Mastretta, and honestly, the first thing I thought was “boy, the guys at Top Gear are going to rip it apart!” I’m still waiting for that…

This is probably a stupid question, but why do we in South Africa only get to see old seasons of Top Gear, from 2006-2008 on BBC K. Is there another time or channel perhaps that you do show the new seasons in South Africa. I love watching Top Gear and i enjoy watching the old seasons, as i have not watched all of them before, but feel a little behind in time not knowing whats going on in today’s world of motoring.
