Now stop trying, because you won’t be able to do it. You can’t say ‘Bob’ and make millions of people laugh. Or ‘petrol pump’. Or ‘airbag’. No, there’s only one man for the job. And that man is the new fastest celebrity around our track.
People of the Internet, meet your new SIARPC hero, Rowan Atkinson. While he was learning his way around TG’s hallowed tarmac, we snuck along to have a quick chat. In the video below, there are some STARTLING REVELATIONS about what Rowan really thinks about our track, our humble little Kia, the Stig and some onions. Also, he is rather unkind to one of the cee-apostrophe-d’s tyres.
As always, let us know your reasoned and carefully judged opinions on episode four in our handily titled ‘post-show discussion’ here, and have a gander through our gallery of behind-the-scenes pics from filming.

Great extras.
Now can we please, please, please have an extended version of the studio interview as well? From experience I know that the interview lasts for over half an hour and I’m sure there are some gems from there that didn’t make the final edit.

I was at the recording last week and Rowan was a very entertaining guest , the first half of the interview was mainly car talk ( the ones he has owned over the years ) and very informative it was too .
But we all knew which way the interview would go and it then got even better if you only knew Rowan in his acting guise . The list of items was even longer and had a few gems , I was only sad that he didn’t do DUN-LOP ( ala Mr Bean in France ).
He was also welling up when told of his time round the track . Seemed really surprised , but pleased !
Good show all round .

So Rowan Atkinson is famous, funny, nice, a petrol head, a racing driver and has massive television experience. Why is he not a presenter on Top Gear?
Canadian Top Gear fan

Volume control doesnt work in video player. You click on volume button and you just see it go a bit of a faded black on bottom right

FYI – do not devise a drinking game that consists of drinking every time he says ‘You know’ or a derivative of. It didn’t end well.

I agree a bloomin good episode and Rowan is an all round nice guy. I had the pleasure of “noise testing” his Aston at Brands Hatch a few years ago whilst marshaling.
He is a all round good guy

This sounds like a very good argument for a special 1 1/2 hour Top Gear to me – an XL version.

i agree with MWF, make a video with the bits that were cut from the interview, please.
and @hercule poirot: i said the same thing in the webpage with the glipse of the 4th episode. i dont understand how mr. clarkson didnt remember it, i remembered it the second after they announced the guest would be mr. atkinson

Do you mean to tell me that the SIARPC lap times are timed by some bloke with a stop watch??? Really??? The difference between first place and second place in the lap times is only half a second, what if it’s because the bloke with the stop watch was half a second slow in clicking the bloody thing? But anyway, I also have to agree with MWF that interweb extras of the interviews would go over well.

i must say that i REALLY enjoyed the episode with rowan in it. i have been waiting and asking for ages to have rowan atkinson on it. he is a really genuine nice guy who is not a show off or ego driven. i found it interesting that jeremy clarkson mentioned straighaway about the nsx, even though he didnt say that he was cut up but rowan. prob because rowan does guard his privacy very well. even to the extent that during any interview the interviewer is told EXACTLY what they can and cant say and if they even attempt to ask or say anything not on the script then rowan will walk out.i dont agree with that myself but i guess thats just one part of how he guards his privacy. down to the fact that some years ago he and his family were on holiday sightseeing in a small engined plane when the pilot passed out and rowan wrestled the plane under control and kept it steady till the pilot cpould be brought round. this you thought would have made front page news but bearly made it to page 4 and was a small paragraph!. thats also how modest he is.
a great bloke and wish i could meet him.
lets start a campaign to get him as a presenter on top gear! that would be brilliant to have a serious petrol head who knows his cars on the show, much better than some presenters i could mention lol
