Hello again. So here we are, standing on the sun kissed foothills of the fifth show in this series of six. Except, since we’re in the middle of a British summer time, the foothills are not sun kissed at all and are in fact being rendered moist and depressing by irritating bouts of drizzle.
Yet through this liquid misery, Wednesday’s Top Gear studio recording went remarkably well. Hammond arrived on a sports bike which he’s festooned with massive panniers and christened the ‘Uglybusa’. James has developed a weird obsession with old BMW motorbikes. Apropos of nothing, Jeremy started wildly enthusing about the door fits on a Honda Accord diesel.
This sort of conversational tangent is not especially unusual because, amongst all the other things we do on studio day – rehearsing, re-writing, recording – there is also an awful lot of ‘waiting for things to happen and killing time by sitting around talking bollocks’.
Speaking of which, here is a video presentation about this week’s show courtesy of a tramp in a check shirt and a gob on a stick.
Top Gear is on as usual at 8pm this Sunday on BBC2 and BBC HD. And we’ll have more rambling from behind-the-scenes as usual after the show right here for all you TopGear.comsters.

What do you think?

I just finished watching it…. IT WAS AWESOME!
This is how I define it: Clarkson is such a child playing with a camera and his mates.
You guys captured the children imagination and goofiness of a teenager.
Thank you guys for this series!

Dear Mr & Mrs Clarkson,
thank you for the blog reminding me of the Army surplus sales, i have enquired on a $1500 armoured Landy. Perfect for Australia even has uranium dust.Hope not tho.
Mrs Clark your husband keeps mentioning his neck, get him ultrasounded etc? It’d be a shame to see him a paralegic unable to drive because of an oversight, useless doctors etc. sorry .
Tell Mr May about the cheap ex army motorbikes.Mr Hammond should organise an amphibius assault or retreat on Normandy with the gang?with American/Oz friends?
What ever I am allways happy to see Top Gear regards LandRoverPETER.

Series of SIX? Why so few episodes? It’s the best Top Gear in the world and BBC needs to up the spending budgets for it. I know there have been short series/seasons in the past so I hope that the next series will be in production soon and maybe even on air in a month or two.

Also, could BBC, please try to start showing: Richard Hammond’s Engineering Connections and James May’s Man lab on BBC America or maybe even allow to stream them on some BBC website (perhaps even on Netflix or Hulu). That would be great. Thank you.

Message to the BBC, give more air time to Top Gear because their series are way too short, but still a very good series so far

I love TG so much and I can’t get enough of it. I felt that the TG team should do a spin off of TG by making:
1. travel and food series
2. a series on the Entertainment industry
3. radio show to broadcast worldwide
4. a series on electronics goods
5. a series on households
6. a series on world today
7. a series on modern weapons
8. a series on Jeremy, James and Mark’s daily life.
9. a cartoon series on Jeremy, James and Mark.
All hosted by of course, the trio! If not, than we really need more TG!
