As regular TopGear.commers will already be aware, the telly crew have recently returned from filming our Christmas special in India.
We’ll bring you all the news as we get nearer to broadcast as usual, but for now, here’s the only clue you’re going to get: a hat that Hammond wore.
There is a reason we’re showing you this, and it’s a good one. St Mungo’s, a charity aimed at helping homeless people rebuild their lives, is having a “Woolly Hat Day” on Friday, and they’re auctioning off various celebrity millinery. Joining Richard’s headwear will be offerings from the likes of Tom Waits, Eric Clapton, Joanna Lumley, Jason Plato, Graeme McDowell.
Richard said: “I’m getting involved in St Mungo’s Woolly Hat Day because homelessness is completely unacceptable in this day and age. This is a great way to raise awareness and funds so I’ve donated a great hat I bought whilst filming Top Gear in India recently.”
So if you fancy owning Hammond’s hat – and we know he has some very keen fans on the site – head to the St Mungo’s auction here. It finishes on Sunday 6 November. Let us know if you win.
SUNDAY UPDATE: the winning bid is in, and Hammond’s hat raised £2,000. Congratulations to TG.com reader Cat below who is now the proud owner. The rest of you can see the hat in action in our Christmas special. More details very soon…
