Despite Jeremy’s heavy cold (which he didn’t mention once), he found time at this week’s filming to grab our leader Andy Wilman for a quick chat for you all on Sunday’s show and how the rest of the series is coming along. And to mock James’ beloved, yet filthy, Fiat Panda.
You may be relieved to hear that Andy’s lucky pants don’t feature this week, TopGear.commers. He was wearing them, but it was simply too cold for another airing.
See you all on Sunday, 8pm, BBC2 and BBC HD as usual. And if you want more on Sunday’s show, head to Richard’s video preview and some behind-the-scenes snaps from rehearsals…

What do you think?

I’m didn’t love last week’s episode because of the cars; I loved it because of the real tension and drama you guys created in your races and tests. My palms were sweating when you guys were racing around the oval to see how fast you could go, and I was on the edge of my seat when you were trying to break Italian Stig’s lap time. That’s what made the episode so brilliant.

Sadly have to steal it as well, because at this time our TV is airing only the series 16. That’s the first thing. The second thing is, that the translation and dubbing is rubbish, so the jokes (and facts) aren’t so good and they cut out the news section and also some of the test, so the can put an advert in it.
The original is the best and I’ll stay with it. Like everything about it!

It’s so great that the big “stars” can have a little private conversation with those of us who live for the show and if anybody actually ever reads these comments i would like to say i am a massive petrol head and there has not been an episode of top gear UK that i don’t like i watch every ep like it is the first time i am seeing it it is simply the best and only thing on TV worth watching im going to kill myself if i have to live through another year of reality cooking or marry someone or im to fat i mean come on just top gear 24/7 would be just fine and for gods sake screen the audience i cant get tickets and those who do don’t give a toss about cars or listen to a word the boys are saying

I think it’s been a great start of the new season.
If i have to criticize anything, and obviously that’s what the internet is FOR, it has to be the acting. I’d like to see more of the real Dick, Jim and Jerry and less of the silly cartoon characters they’ve created.
Maybe that’s just a result of having watched these guys for too long and seen the transformation go gradually.
There are situations i know they would react differently if they weren’t acting and playing the part of a “clumsy old man falling over”. Some of it is great, but I just don’t understand why things have to be so OBVIOUSLY scripted.
Or is it a legal thing? Does it have to be so silly that no one can possibly take you seriously and never try it at home and thereby making sure you’ll never get sued by americans that CAN’T outrun the police in AMG Mercs?
The early challenges were funny because things ACTUALLY went wrong. If things actually go wrong now (Wich is usually funny), i get a nagging feeling it’ll get lost in the editing because it’s impossible to fit into the script.
For example: Had the Yugo broken down during the police chase in Albania, that would’ve ruined the scripted ending.
Thus it would get fixed behind the camera (Or towed to the jump) to complete the scene.
Most of the time TopGear is enjoyable from start to finish though, and i’m really glad you’re sensible about the SIARPC segment as well. I love hearing about celebs talk about their relationship to cars, no other interviews/interviewers cover that subject.
Atleast not without the words “enviroment” and “hybrid” as focalpoints.
I was fascinated to hear about Matt Leblanc’s Porsche for example, i would NEVER had taken him for a car guy unless he came on your show. Likewise, even if he wasn’t a petrolhead, Jeff Goldblums M-class story was fantastic, and we would NEVER have heard of that on Letterman.
I’d even go so far as saying that this segment is a HUGE part of the reason why TopGear Australia didn’t work. Relatively unkown celebs internationally, and from what i’ve heard from Aussie commenters alot weren’t that famous at home either.
And likewise it’s the guests on TopGear America that makes the show. Buzz Aldrin on the FIRST show? How can it fail?
All in all, great work and i hope you keep going for many years to come!

jip is totaly right I would pay the producers to be sure to get mybig or low budjet Top Gear. I might download the show because the DVD’s are are incomplete, and the digital copy is the best when you want to watch your show every days.

More Andy Wilman!!! That dude’s funny! I don’t know how he’d be with the other 2 hosts, but his interaction with Jezza’s great!
“I’d watch Midwives next week. Don’t bother stealing the show.” hahaha!
Love TopGear! Best show on TV!
Oh, and uh, what color is that Aston Martin??? Burnt Sienna?? (Thanks, Crayola!) Ugly. The only Sienna that should be on TG is Sienna Miller. In fact, she should pretty much be on every episode.

Give us rockets. Big rockets. No more, not less … ou and by the way: the indian special on christmas was kind a crap. Go for the challenges like in the jungle, or the desert one a cross botswana …

According to Mr. Wilman, if you are a Lambo fan, “Don’t bother stealing the show next week.” That cracked me up! Andy would make a great alternative host in my opinion. As long as the rest of the series does not end up like the India special, that will work just fine for me. But I will still point out any shortcomings on this site to help all of you make the best programs possible for all your fans.

I like top gear for the tension and the banter between the presenters.
I am not here for the fakeness that has happened over the past few years.
Its a shame top gear can’t distinguish between the two

how about making one series of topgear for toddlers like last week episdoe was and another for adults like the first episode was.
I bet 100 pounds that the show for toddlers get about 30% of the viewers as the the show for adults get.
