Supercar droptops and The Donald: Top Gear USA post-show discussion

“WAR OF THE CONTINENTS” .. Three different classes sports coupe , sports sedan and supercar head to head , North America vs UK .. i think that can be real good episode for the next series considering that besides UK , North america has the biggest fan base for top gear .. for the sports coupe i think Boss 302 Mustang vs CSL M3 would be a good comparison considering both cars make about the same amount of bhp and other similarities .. for the sports sedan cadillac cts-v vs the new V8 twin turbo M5 and for the super car corvette ZR1 vs porsche 911 turbo .. im sure you guys can make a great episode out of this .. im a big car enthusiast and a big fan of top gear and been following it from the first series ..

this espiode was a 7 out of ten.

I just wish the boys would cut loose
as it nearly there TGUSA.
there is a big car base in the uk.
the reason why it bigger in the USA
is simple. we have 60 million people here
you have over 200 million.

we are just as much passion about cars as
Amercia.
do not forget, this is a British show that you
boys have bought.

In a country as big as Amercia, you had to buy
a brand from the World biggest car show.
as no television exective in Amercia could dream
up a car show like Top Gear.
they listen to too many focus group in Amercia.

it a shame that, led by the PC13 Police.
could be better, if you ignore the focus group
and made proper television.

The national motor musuem here in the uk.
has a world of Top Gear section.
were they put the Toyota Hilux that went to the
north pole in it, as well asthe combine harve
that was converted into a snow plough.

Other vechile that went in recently, were the Moblity scooters
and Jezza sport train. as well as the cars from the india special.
not as passioned about cars, yea right.

The boys over here, get a kicking from both the written media
and the television new channels.
they would cancels a show like this in amercia. because the PC police
can not understand Top Gear.

when are TGUSA Boys going to leave amercia.
and take up some of TGUK Challenges.
can they do a better Vietman special, Boliva, North Pole race
and Botswania.

I hear they build stretch limousines.
i think the UK one are in the Musuem
as are most of their vechile are.

Maybe the Amercia national car musuem
should open it own, World of Top Gear vechile
section. would get more people going to musuems
and maybe interested in cars in general.

Keep in mind that since there are no corporate sponsors on BBC programming, TGUK can do the things they do. PBS here in America is a joke and hasn’t had good programming since the 80s or 90s and even then it’s nothing like what the BBC puts out. They could have gone on SPEED or another digital-only channel but they stuck with History for basic cable audiences. They’re getting better at what they do, my hope is they start to find their own thing soon enough.

I only bring this up, as swearing on a show is
acceptful by me if it part of a storyline.

Amercia hadHBO, What happened to the excellent
programmes and films they made.
We got video of HBO moviein Belfast growing up.
they were very popular, and cutting edge.

it seem a little spark has gone out, of both British
and amercian cable channels.
it now about Family entertainment, not really about
original programming.

People will mention both Game of thrones and Broadwalk
empire, both show are being to be charcter driven.
that spoil it for me, i like the raw edge of the Wire and
early sorpanos.

need more edge.
even the BBC programme, are lacking punch.
due to the recession, and budget cuts.

I think Sky Sports does a good job with Football
but F1was one off the BBC best programme.
eight millon viewer and it budget was cut in half.

that why i am angry.
alway Sport on british mainstream television
that get cut the most.
what about the budget cutting, being taken from the
rubbish Soap operas on tv today.

it sucks this decision by the BBC.
it the easy way out, if you ask me.
it not corporate sponors that brother me
but head of programming.
who alway take spor from the masses
and give it those who can afford Cable tv.

My problem with TGUSA Is, the lack of direction that the show is
going.
it have to many specials, and now there coping the Stetch limo
piece from TGUK.
really TGUSA better than TGUK, just a poor imitation with lightweight

I think that was one of the best episodes of TGUSA, That being said, its no where near as good as the Season one Finale (Pick up Trucks). I’ve said it before, you cant expect the sequel to be better than the original. And just to make another point, I have never seen another country’s TG on this site, thats in the past 5 years. So they must be doing something right. still kinda sad to see ‘em copy the limo episode…

And to Steve12, for Christ’s Sake, just because you have a thought doesnt meant you have to post it. you dont need a whole 3(full) comments to say in a really rather politically correct way that you hated it. Steve12 you are a moron, are you retarded? do you where diapers or anything? seriously, you make no sense at all. if you don’t like the show then don’t watch it. it’s a show on its own, so leave it alone. you can’t compare TGUK who has endless amount of funds to a small budget show that has sponsors that prevent them from going all out. just do us all a favor and quit the BS about americans trying to copy this and that. you’re just obsess with americans, therefor you hate us.

The BBC is broke at the moment.
due to the goverment not paying for
the world service.
it had to make 250 Million pound cuts, to it
budget to pay for the world service.

Even with 60 Million people, paying a licence fee
of 156 pound per year, the BBC still needed to use
the profits from it commerical arm. to pay for all
it programming, last year the BBC made over a
Billion pound profit, all of which go back to pay
for the programming.

If the BBC were allowed commerical revenue, it would be
the biggest television company in the world.
but due to law, it can not sell adverting.

TGUSA needs to cut loose. pushe the envelope a bit (especially if things need the occasional bleep).

The BBC and the rest of the “Austerity” measures across Europe prove that govenrment needs to be small, effective and as invisible as possible. Let business be it TV, manufacturing or healthcare do its thing and everything will get better.
