You may well think that the fevered genuises behind Top Gear Live have been taking a break since we nonchalantly broke a world record in South Africa earlier this year.

You’d be wrong. In fact, all concerned have been laughing in the face of such concepts as ‘summer holidays’ and ‘relaxing watching the Olympics’, instead plotting the return of our live arena show for its only UK dates this year.

Yes, Top Gear Live is returning to the Birmingham NEC from 25-28 October, and it’s going to be our biggest yet. The three presenters will be back in front of a live audience, doing what they do best. Arguing. Shouting. And occasionally crashing things.

There’s also our live indoor track. And just like the TV track, it attracts a baffling amount of A-list stars to drive our Reasonably Priced Car. Just a few of the celebs brave enough to take on the slippery circuit last year were Chris Evans, Rupert Grint and Mark Cavendish. But obviously, the biggest star never took off his helmet. Some say he has a full-size tattoo of his face… on his face. All we know is, he’s called the Stig. And like last time, he’ll be on driving duty again this year.

On top of all that, the lineup includes some legendary pro drivers. Last year audiences saw some slidey displays from Sabine Schmitz, racing legend Derek Bell, and stunt driver Paul Swift, who has a handy knack of driving on two wheels. In a car.

And during the summer, we also got The Stig to make a short ad for this year’s show (below), luring the tame racing driver into our secret lair with the offer of an exclusive go in Aston Martin’s new Vanquish…

Don’t forget, some tickets are still available – just head to http://www.topgearlive.co.uk/ to find out more. See you there!

When is the next series back?

We need MORE new TV shows. Ideally a series of 52 episodes for 2013! And then the same for 2014 and so on. Yes, I’l happily give up the X-mas specials, even this live stunt thing, if that’s what it takes to get a weekly dose of TG on the BEEB.

iSyncit
iSyncIt is a small menu bar application that allows you to sync your devices more easily and quickly than just using iSync alone. iSyncIt has the ability to automatically turn your bluetooth on and off, saving you power if you are using a laptop. It also has a built in scheduler to allow you to set up automatic syncing of your devices.
To reduce the amount of space needed on your menu bar iSyncIt also contains an, albeit limited, bluetooth menu, allowing you to use iSyncIt as a replacement for your bluetooth menu bar item.
This software requires OS X 10.5, PPC or Intel processors and for all of your devices to have been synced at least once in iSync.
In Mac OS it is only possible (as far as I am aware) to control the power of internal bluetooth dongles, those provided by Apple, therefore automatic bluetooth control will not function with external dongles. However, the scheduling and syncing functions of iSyncIt will continue to work as normal.

Kill Dashboard
Kill Dashboard is a basic Automator action to shut down Dashboard after use. it allows you to free up RAM and processor cycles without permanently disabling Dashboard. It should work on all Tiger platforms assuming you’ve done no dodgy OS editing of your own. I have created this for people that do not wish to write their own AppleScript or Automator actions.
