(UPDATE: if the service is available in your area, you can watch Sunday’s new Top Gear on the BBC iPlayer here)
Well, there you have it: we’re back with a flying Bentley, a hypercar with innocence, the slowest celebrity lap ever (sorry, Damian), some tremendous tractors, and Jeremy’s P45…
Hope you all enjoyed the first show of the new series – there’s plenty more to come (as you can see here). Let us know your thoughts as usual in the handy space below, and we’ll be back next week with the usual out-takes and extras.
(And if you missed it earlier, head this way to see an exclusive video as the presenters discuss the upcoming shows. And their lunch).

steve, I accept that they were making a joke and I certainly wouldn’t expect a reasoned discussion on tyres or any other safety item but I do feel that the way they just dismissed preparing for winter, was wrong. Most people probably don’t give any thought to winter driving (and I don’t just mean tyres which most people probably can’t afford or don’t have storage space). Their attitude probably just confirmed these people in their view with potential serious consequences.

People who are too stupid to recognise the safety value of winter tyres [and I don't mean anything with M+S written on the side wall, I mean PROPER winter tyres with the correct compounds for below 7C and effective tread patterns] are all too often the same people who set out with snow on their windscreens, drive too fast for the conditions and too close to the car in front so it doesn’t matter how any subject is presented to them they are simply too stupid!

How many times, and in how many countries did the ‘Stang drive down the same hill with the same red cars behind it in 19×3?
You know, the editing and use of music was breathtakingsly beautiful in the racing track with planes in 19×2. This is what both Top Gear and BBC is known for, it’s your code. It just hits you in the face and is wonderful every time. Has been all along through the years. The kind of nauseatingly bad editing in the race in 19×3 is sometimes fun when Tarantino does it in his Grindhouse movies, when there’s a reference to the drive-in cinema culture. It’s HIS code. But here the vulgar tivoli thing just misses by miles and miles. You know this very well.
This is just a crime.
For me, the sane thing to do si just saying in the spirit of the show: “Ooops, something has gone horribly wrong…!” Not leaving. Just yet.

I agree with Boilers about the cheap shot at the Corvette. The new ‘vette is brilliant and gorgeous. And I’m not saying that because I own one – though I wouldn’t mind having the money to buy one. The rest of the episode was hilarious and fun.

Let me add that although I don’t think everything on TG is brilliant, enough of it is (the camera/editing work is without peer IMO) that I believe I will actually be sad when they stop making the show. I’ve been watching these crazy people for 10 years so it will be like a breakup.
