Video: Andy Wilman on Sunday’s new show

Show preview S19 ep2This week, for our glimpse into proceedings for Sunday’s new Top Gear, we turn to our big boss, executive producer Andy Wilman.

We apologise in advance to fans of Andy’s lucky pants (see here, and here) – they don’t make an appearance this time. But he did take time out of filming to talk about an epic film for the second episode of the new series: a West Coast road trip across America in an Aston Martin Vanquish, SRT Viper and the Lexus LF-A…

We’ve also got Mick Fleetwood on the show this week, the very tall rock legend responsible – among many things – for The Chain (the BBC’s F1 theme tune, as if you didn’t already know).

See you Sunday in the normal place: 8pm, BBC Two and BBC HD. And don’t forget to let us know your thoughts on TopGear.com as usual after the show.

That’s not fair. Haha…. We don’t get Top Gear UK until the 4th (I think). Well at least we have Top Gear US, oh wait…

That new Vanquish suits James perfectly, immensely excited for sunday night!

Also: You said Virage in the description instead of the proper Vanquish. Not to be overly anal or a grammar Nazi…

Is this meant to be the “Christmas Special in February”?

The road trip along the western portion of the US should be rather entertaining as well as the lap with Mic Fleetwood. Looking forward to it.

Looki fun, Andy Wilman has got old overnight

Mr Wilman, STOP COMPLAINING! For someone who is only 50, you complain incessantly about the content of the show ‘the stuff for kids’ and how old and tired you are. If being a Producer on Top gear is getting to be a drag, then simply pass the job on to someone else and move on! Unless of course you can’t say No to the salary you are getting for producing it!

Looking forward to a new road trip with the guys, should be great as always…

beinh 50 as Andy Wilman is, the challenge do
take their toll after 11 years.
no problem, with Andy, saying he feel tired
after 11 year he can moan a little about the schuedule
the BBC have them on.

I wish our American cousins would stop complaining about how it’s “not fair Top Gear isn’t on in America for a week!!” You get all our great shows MUCH sooner than we get yours. Doctor Who you get THE SAME DAY, Top Gear a week or so later than us, our comedy shows not much after us either
Turn the tables, we have to wait up to A YEAR after broadcast in America to get your shows.
You know *nothing* of waiting…

This will most likely be another great episode, regardless of whether or not Andy Wilman wore his “lucky pants” while producing it. Worth watching over the Super Bowl in my opinion. :D

It’s funny how YouTube manage to stream thousands of clips to thousands of homes with few problems yet one two minute clip seems to be beyond the capability of the entire BBC! Four times it crashed! Still, what I DID see looks good so I’ll definitely be watching Sunday.

can’t wait to see it :D

Really looking forward to this episode. I love the big films where all three are together. They’re also going close to where I live (the west coast) so hopefully I’ll see bits I recognize!
