And by America’s toughest car, we mean the toughest car we could find online for approximately $2000 bucks…
Rut chooses a festival of right angles, a 1990 Volvo 240DL, cop car-loving Adam shows up with yet another 1992 Chevy Caprice cruiser while Tanner scythes in from the left field with a… 1987 RWD Toyota Corolla.
In what’s probably the first Top Gear drag race on Top Gear to culminate in speeds under the national limit, the hosts find out just how much anger’s left under their bonnets. Next, their rides meet the business end of a Mossberg Bullpup 12-gauge shotgun – generally used to depose dictators – to find out just how “bulletproof” their machines really are. Then they take a literal approach to testing just how bombproof their rides are with high-explosive devices…
Unbelievably, the charred remains are still able to drag themselves around under their own power. Unfortunately, all that awaits is falling from a not-inconsiderable height to simulate a 25 mph crash. Adam, Rut and Tanner get to choose which side will kiss the ground, sort of like telling a swordsman which limb to lop off.
The final challenge sends the hosts to Glen Helen Raceway where a motocross course replete with woops, berms and even a water hazard await what’s left of their vehicles. The car that completes the most laps wins, with an added degree of difficulty: Their engine oil will be drained before the start.
To the winner, the spoils – they get to head to Fort Campbell, Kentucky, home of the US Army’s highly-decorated 101st Airborne Division. A host will take on the Screaming Eagles’ full might in an SUV with tremendous military heritage: The Mercedes G-wagon.
Although it’s served in over 60 armed forces around the world, it’s best known for ferrying petite housewives around Beverly Hills, often in AMG livery. Is there still enough military DNA left to take on a shadow drone, two Kiowa choppers, two Blackhawks, a couple M-ATV armored trucks and 28 infantry troops? 563 turbocharged horsepower will certainly help…
The 2nd combat brigade is tasked with taking our host alive; they claim to be “discriminately lethal,” so perhaps our host will survive the afternoon. 12 miles and a lot of firepower stand between the G63 and freedom – can the AMG make it?
To find out, you’ll have to tune in to the History channel this Tuesday at 9/8 central. You can see older episodes on the History Channel Top Gear site and get breaking news on the Top Gear USA Facebook page. Let us know what you think!

nothing new here, same espiodes repeated
for the eight time.
can we have, some variety like a proper road trip
or some road teste as well as power laps.
Sixteen shows off, nothing but off challenges
is a complete waste of money.
TG Keroa is miles better, and does not get
any support from TOP GEAR . Com.
But you hype, this steaming pile of crap
each and every week.
while in 33, espiodes TG Keroa has done more
than TGUSA in 42 shows.
How about some praise, for your mad Keroan
cousins who have made TG Keroa the number two
TopGear brand.
I rather watch, a repeat off Top Gear Russia
was much more fun than this pile of crap.
Finally give up. on this show after last week Crap
spring break road trip to Mexico.
worst show on TV.

Where pray tell is Keroa? I’ve never heard of this magical place with good Top Gear. Maybe Korea? They’re pretty good there.
In a serious note though, the road trips aren’t always the best, but they do know their market. The news and interview segments on TGUS don’t do that well, and since they have to deal with commercials, if they want a good long film, it has to take up most, if not all of, the show.
I hope they keep up the work, and improve things a bit, but they’re doing well enough for me to still watch every week.

TG Keroa has commerical, and still put together
a better show than TGUSA.
15 minutes reviewing, the Dodge Viper still leave
you half an hour for an challenge.
With 30 minutes challenges, they be shorter, sharper
and better all round.
last two shows, car have flown from a mountain top
and on a kite.
That Lazy, you can build shows around the cars
like this week TGUk Shelby Mustang Vs a train.
first epic race, the boys have done in two year
and it from Wembley to The SAn Siro in Italy.
I watch a, lot of ESPN and know that Amercai has
a big sport culture.
why not race, a car from their studio to Indiana and
the winner get to see the Pacer paly.
Also have a, custom culture of over a billion
pound been ignorage.
also the, world biggest classic car collection
how about an show build around the 67 Ford Mustang
Fastback VS the 68 Dodge Chargervs Corvette Stingray.
threre three new show, that will appeal to Amercian
car fan as well.
just lazy TGUsa.

Hoping that the Ford Crown Vic didn’t get overlooked here! The favorite Cop Car/Taxi/etc is a pretty tough contender.

CW2 Kenneth Barker was fatally injured in an automobile accident in Alabama on 1/25/13. He flys chase in a helicopter in an episode that airs tonight on Top Gear at 9pm EST at Ft. Campbell, KY.

M y thought and prayers, go out to CW2 kenneth Barker
family at this time.
Also would like, to mention Caleb Moore who died
while performing at the Xgames.
Two very brave men, tragedy killed at such a young
age i cannot imagine the heartache their poor family
are going through right now.
To ESPN, please do not cancel the X games
instead just banned moves that are considered
too dangerous.

OMG, another pathetic challenge. I am going to watch it only for the G-wagon (if Tanner gets to drive it because the other two are an embarrassment to the auto journalist/presenter world).

This show is such a waste of money time and resources. Would it be possible to have a show that actually concentrated on new cars, quality older vehicles. Ect…..what they offer on this show is just excessive american waste and nothing useful. How about a show that demonstrated something of more quality than just blowing stuff up or driving tractors around. I would rather watch a documentry than this tripe. There are so many great cars and trucks you could show off through this medium, also the actors could totally pull off a real auto show and could be way more entertaining given the opportunity. Whoever is writing this stuff should reconsider this shock jock tv and create something of value. It could work given the opportunity.

Where’s the Hilux? We’ve got those in America, too (although it was just called a “Toyota Pickup”)
