Behind the scenes with Lewis Hamilton

LewisAt ten years old he was a British karting Champion, at 13 he was signed up to McLaren’s young driver program, and in 2008 he was the youngest ever F1 world Champion at just 23 years old (though he was knocked off the top spot by a young German called Sebastian in 2010).

But these achievements pale in comparison to what can only be described as the jewel in Hamilton’s crown – appearing for a second time on Top Gear to try and top our F1 Drivers’ Leaderboard in a Suzuki Liana…

You can watch more from his attempt right here…

Is Lewis Hamilton faster then TGV?
The TGV (Train à Grande Vitesse, French for “High-Speed Train”) holds a series of world speed records achieved by SNCF, the French national railway, and its industrial partners. The high speed trials are intended to expand the limits of high speed rail technology, increasing speed and comfort without compromising safety.

The current TGV world speed record is 574.8 km/h (357.2 mph), achieved on 3 April 2007 on the new LGV Est.

Your show is GREAT! I think it is pretty lame that the American version is a big rip off from your show! The BBC has it nailed down and you guys are the best! I always watch every episode (rerun’s and all)! The wife even gets a laugh from some of them and she hates my car programs…..be proud my men of auto’s this is a great accomplishment! Congrats on another season….19 and counting!! Maybe something special for the big 20 year anniversary!

I don’t agree with the second chance… and invite WRC pilots! Seb. Loeb will rule the times!

No problem with the second chance. The track was very slow on his first attempt and to be able to compare apples to apples he should have had a shot at a dry track.

Being first means a lot to those guys – Egos loves winning

I am old enough to remember the BMW M1 Procar series.
This race was run in the Seventies previous to the GP on the same weekend by all the GP Drivers.
The Guys who won were more often than not the back markers in the actual Grand Prix as they had the biggest point to prove. The Hunts, Laudas and the other front runners figured nowhere in the results either because they didn’t try or just saw it as a marketing excercise.
Could have been a great spectacle but dissapointing in the final analisys.
