TG’s 50 Years of Bond Cars: out now!

bond-special

Last year, Top Gear decided to make a very special tribute to our favourite secret agent: James ‘double-oh-seven’ Bond.

Richard set off to to track down Bond’s best cars, and met some wonderful people along the way, including Guy Hamilton (director of Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, Live and Let Die and The Man With The Golden Gun), and Roger Moore, who tells tales of fish inside the Lotus Esprit Submarine. Daniel Craig – in breaks from filming Skyfall – also talks about driving with The Stig and reveals his favourite Bond car. Can you guess what it is?

There are cars too, lots of them. From the gorgeous, gadget-laden Aston Martin DB5, aquatic Lotus Esprit to the gawky Citroen 2CV and barrel-rolling AMC Hornet. Inspired by Q, Richard then attempts to make his own homemade ‘invisibility cloak’ to make a Transit disappear in front of your very eyes. Sound too ambitious? It was. Until we also decided the best 50th birthday present Top Gear could possibly give would be a working amphibious Lotus, designed using Top Gear Engineering…

The conundrum! It’s NOT available on blu ray but IS the dirt cheap price of £6 from Amazon! Sod it, i’m sold, loved the special even more than last years Clarkson/May special. At that price i can’t argue. Hard to believe how old Mr Guy Hamilton is, keep going sir!

Come on TG. Surely an £8 Blu-Ray isn’t completely out of the question?

Love the Aston Martin, love Bond, love Top Gear! Pretty incredible the DB5 is 50-years old – it is absolutely timeless. Hope I look as good in another five decades… Good work! :)
