Well, there you have it. Transport for OAPs has now been solved (although we’ll have to build another prototype, obviously), the new Range Rover is rather excellent, and James McAvoy proves that even a one-time Nissan Micra owner can post a decent time around our track.
And a special mention at this point for English acting icon Richard Briers – it was a genuine privilege to feature his voiceover on our film. RIP Richard.
Let us know your thoughts as usual below, and we’ll see you at the same time next week for the first two-parter in Top Gear’s history, as the boys return to Africa for another special…

The fact you say its the best episode of the series and your name on here is “Evoque” says it all.

When I relised that the Top Gear presenters are going to retire, I felt so sad. I feel very lucky to have seen Top Gear under Jezza’s leadership. It will be very difficult to replace Hammond Clarkson and May. One of my biggest wishes is: I would like to see the presenters before they retire. I think my dream will never come true. I live in Italy….they live in England. I can come to England but it will be very difficult to find them. But dreams are free, you don’t pay for dreaming. So….let’s dream and maybe one day….my dream will come true!!!

I went car shopping with my parents last year. We searched for months looking for something for them. Both over 70. All we could find was a Nissan Note. They would have liked the seat to be a few inches higher. It is an automatic which makes their life easier.
I wrote to several manufacturers about the lack of suitable cars for older drivers and only VW replied, saying basically they were not interested that segment of the market. Shame it is wide open for a company that wants to jump in and make a good profit.

It’s such an injustice!!! People are getting old everywhere and old people need cars wich are easy to understand for them. The fact is: unfortunately there are many old people nowdays so car makers can make a good profit making car for old people!!! It’s a great idea!

Jalponik in Amercia, is reporting and Pagani
has confirmed this that they used two set of tryes
for their last record time on Top Gear.
They used Pirelli Corsa tyres, as they wanted to push
them on the press a standard tatic.
They change to, Zonda r cut tyre because it share
the same suspension and brake at the Huyara.
The Tyre are street legal, so th Huyara time stand
got good press from this Amercian website for being
honest.
they are Fans, of the Huyara and called it Porn
to look at such a beautiful car.
show you how, passioned people are about the
Pagani Huyara lap time on Top Gear.
even talking about, boring tyre thread and tyre
grooves.
it good to have, Top Gear back on our screens.

People, not only older people, but people who dont care about technology and how many settings everything has – want a car like an old Nokia phone that just does what its supposed to – all the clever stuff must be automatic if it must be there at all.
I like all the techo stuff (thats why i read the mag, watch the show etc) but my wife doesnt want to arse about with all that stuff and why should she? It doesnt even have to be a captain slow hatchback whitegood Kia/hyundai (well the older ones anyway) My wife loves my old Merc Clk 230 cos you floor it and it thinks your arse is on fire – she just doesnt want the hassle of selecting modes and arguing with a nonsensical sat nav and stupid split zone airconditioning. Make the whole car the right temp fr fecks sake!

Old people in Christchurch you must be joking! Dynamic community
, vibrant industry, brilliant schools , maybe the stats say otherwise but a Sunday watching the kite/wind surfers or an hour watching the kids on the skate parks and you might change your mind. Tennis with cars, rugby with cars how about wind surfing with cars! Noticed you had to go to Bournemouth to get your old people!!!! And you think your in trouble in Mexico Hammond??????

Loved this episode. The device to blow the wheels off the OAP car demonstrated by Clarkson should be installed on cars. I was driving on the A131 yesterday when I saw a Land Rover driving towards me on the wrong side of the dual carriage way and the driver was an OAP. I managed to make him turn around by holding my hooter down.

Finally come to realize that the TG that I loved is dead. All that is left are the cheesy jokes that are badly executed.. How different was it when it was still about the love of cars and driving. Item’s like the one where James was driving the Maserati Bora. That item was for and about enthusiasm and love for cars, but twith a brilliant take on it through the comparison with modern architecture. That item was intelligent and passionate. Something which hasn’t been shown for way too long. I keep hoping that TG returns to those roots, but I’ve sadly come to realize that those times are now long gone.. TG for car enthusiasts is really dead.

This week’s show is one of the best yet! Great job by the whole TG crew, I couldn’t stop laughing during the last 10 minutes of the show the OAP was so darn stupid! But I attest to this being the very best show on any TV! I started watching TG reruns last summer after caving in to a friend of mine that insisted I should watch it sometime, but it just sounded like a nonsense show to me. Well, all it took was one honest watching, and it hooked a new petrol head! This early 2013 season is as good as if not better than all previous seasons, once again, great job by all! I’m loving it!!

My wife, who spent twenty years working in nursing homes and is now retired due to mobility impairment, laughed herself silly watching the OAP car segment. She’s not that interested in cars (though she wants a Jaguar if we win the lottery) but she loves Top Gear’s brand of cocking about. Then again, she thinks James May is sexy, so go figure.
