Alas, it is the end of Series 18, and what a run we’ve had: who could forget our supercar shootout in Italy, a trip to China and Kung Fu Stig, the Ferrari FF vs Bentley on ice, the lightly insane C63 Black series and Saab tribute, and of course, the aeroplane-engined BMW Brutus and Bentley [...]
In case you haven’t heard, Top Gear is back this Sunday night in its usual 8pm slot on BBC2. And we’ll be there for the next six weeks, pending an outbreak of snooker or some kind of choir singing competition.
So there you have it. Top Gear is finally back on the nation’s screens: three undeniably great cars, two new haircuts, one Oscar-winning film director and a minor conflagration. Hopeless gifts were exchanged, Stigs were mown down in hails of semi-automatic gunfire, fuses were blown – a nice gentle introduction to the festive season ahead…
Following on from last week’s glimpse at Top Gear over Christmas, the official trailer is now running on the BBC – and here it is for you all.
You may have read some scant details about our festive special in the papers this week. We can confirm their veracity. This Boxing Day Jeremy, Richard and James will be attempting their toughest task yet: passing themselves off as ‘three wise men’ while recreating that famous journey following a star to Bethlehem.

Good news for all those across the pond! After series two of Top Gear USA was seen by almost 60 million viewers, the History Channel have announced that series three is on the way…
Here we are then – ambitious but not rubbish, for once. Top Gear has won an award!
Oliver’s restoration must be getting expensive – Hammond’s just taken ANOTHER Saturday job. First for those over the pond there was Crash Course on BBC America, in which he’s bravely, foolishly charged with heavy machinery and given an, errm, crash course on how to use it.
It’s been a busy week of moonlighting away from Top Gear this week for our Jeremy. As avid followers of his newly established Twitter feed will already be aware, Wednesday saw the filming of Clarkson’s debut on Countryfile. No word on what he actually did as yet, but we’ll update next time he pops in…
