A quick update from the Top Gear studio today, where rehearsals are now well underway and fastest-man-on-Earth Usain Bolt is out on the track in our reasonably priced car.

Since a certain oh-no-the-caravan’s-on-fire moment a few series ago, some black-hearted and cynical commentators have suggested that everything on Top Gear is in some way contrived and fake.

So, the weekend is nearly upon us and that means it’s almost time for another new Top Gear to stave off that Sunday evening feeling of Oh God, tomorrow I’ve got to return to work / school / international spying and playboyism.
